This looks fun. Does anyone know if the frame and pieces are examinable? Before? After?

Good question. I have not heard any reviews on this one at all.

The frame is gimmicked, too.

Before or after, the frame and box are not examinable. I'd have trouble also having the pieces played with. This is a Freer style puzzle, but without the an*** cut into the plastic. I like it a lot and it is cheaper than some of the true Freer puzzles. I would have preferred a plastic box over the cardboard box. I have the Japanese version and an American version is on order as I have lost the small square piece. Grrr...

Received mine. Very Tenyo and about what I thought it would be. While I love this I think there's a somewhat limited audience who will fully appreciate it. To the non-thinkers amongst us, I'm not sure they'll even register the physical impossibility of the demonstration and it will just seem like a fun visual illusion puzzle. To the thinking man (especially those familiar with the missing chocolate piece illusion) they'll assume it's just a "space between pieces" trick and they'd be very wrong. Of course my focus group of two may not be entirely indicative of the greater public reaction. So I look forward to reactions others get to this.
As for examinability, the pieces are fully examinable and the frame should pass examination too. That said, if you left the spectator with the frame and pieces and they tried to reengineer the performance, they'd find something, while not revealing, very strange and illogical. 9/10

I got mine also. I don't think it's a scream machine but fun from the right crowd. Not something will carry in my pocket but...
I think a dramatic replacement of the frame for disbelievers adds a little flair. Worth it for the price |

I'm thinking that this might be nice as a bit of modern art in a frame. I would spray paint the various pieces different colors and set it up on my work desk waiting for someone to ask about it.

Why don't you just cut a small square out of foam core to replace the missing piece? You could also cut the second additional piece out of the same material and color the two new pieces different colors. Might even add to the presentation as the two new pieces would be obvious additions to the original translucent pieces. |

I see no reason why anyone would want to examine this.
It's a puzzle of pure genius, a bit pricey perhaps. I would like to see this in the Tenyo Elite range. |

Perhaps it could be in the elite range, but what would change other than the price?
I suppose it could be made of a nice wood, but would that be better? The holder would still likely need to be made of paper. Before I received this, I thought of making one out of wood, but at that time I really didn't realize how it worked and now see that it's not as simple as I once thought. KJ |

I am interested, but I will wait and buy a used one.

1KJ ... my thoughts entirely.
A nice wooden surround and perhaps a wooden holder? In its present form, this is still a nice item. With its brightly coloured acrylic pieces and black holder, it's an item of intrigue, and eye-catcher. When left in view, people always stop and ask "what's that"? Would I buy it again ... yes I would. Would I pay more for the Elite version ... absolutely! |

To remove any confusion and to make things clear:-
Only the frame is gimmicked. The cardboard box is also gimmicked but is of less importance.

Wulfiesmith,
As I think about this more, this would be nice if made of wood. The frame could be made of wood as well, and it would make sense if it all came in a cardboard box. I think it would be even better if it was made of wood, in a two part wooden frame. Perhaps something that looks like modern art where you could have it on a wall. To me, this is not something that I would likely take to a gig, unless that gig was educational in nature. Say a demonstration on how to think outside the box or how to get a little more out of yourself. However, it would be great as a display on a desk or on a wall. KJ |

I have just acquired this - what a splendid, fun item. Ideal for close up and intriguing and puzzling family and friends. It puts a smile on my face every time I perform.
