I tested this at Blackpool on one of the stands. I was absolutely surprised to feel how easy it was to bend the nails, even the big one bent like butter in my fingers. I just don't get this product. These nails bend really easily. Anyone with an ounce of strength will be able to bend the nail - and it's so so obvious these are just soft metal nails. Where is the magic?? Unless you have unbelievable spectator management skills and are able to convince people they can't bend it by making them hold it in some nonsense position. What's the point? This is a bit rub..., sorry. Don't have it, haven't seen the routines, but seriously, this aint gonna work on the people I mix with. What is the point in asking a spectator to try and bend a nail WHEN THE NAIL IS EASILY BENDABLE?? Just how week are people in Rasmus country?

That's how it should look and play. |

Well done Madison!!!!!! and to magicmarkworldwide2... J... in what country do you live in? Hulk-Country?? and the people you mix with must be that Avengers...or if you prefer DC..the Justice League. Anyway, the nails are not like butter...you would not be able to hammer butter into wood....so, from my point of view, they have the right amount of look and feel to go through as real nails.

@Phatmeat YOU BEAT ME TO IT ! ha ha
Title: Steel Bender Creator: Rasmus Publisher: ???? MSRP: $ 50 Skill Level: DVD Run time: 33 minutes with 2 bonus videos / Tino Plaz (8 minutes) Additional bending tip (3 minutes) Type of effect: The First Real-Time Nail Bend in the History of Magic! Manufacturer's Write Up: STEEL is the first real nail bend to date. It is Rasmus's underground method, used by him for many years, to bend real steel nails in real time. The nails can be marked or signed by the spectator before the miracle happens. For the first time in magic, STEEL gives you the ability to do the impossible, in front of the spectator's eyes. Mind over matter, mind over STEEL. STEEL can be performed on stage or in close-up situations. It is the perfect weapon to project supernatural powers to a spectator (pseudo hypnosis), where the spectator receives the power to bend a real STEEL nail just by hand. Or what about this: the straight nail is in the palm of the spectator. By covering the nail with the other hand and concentrating, the nail starts to bend between the hands of the spectator, without even touching the spectator. STEEL is a professional tool and a reputation maker for every serious metal bender and mentalist. - Easy to use - No set up - No memory metal - Completely self-contained - Everything you need is included - Instant get in and get out - No switches required - 100% original and never-before published method - Perfect for TV shows (please ask for permission) - Online video instructions - Many great ideas and routines included - Strong black cardboard box to carry the gimmicks How accurate is the ad copy? This is exactly what happens. I do take one issue with the phrase “easy to use” because I suppose “easy” is a relative term. I have read about a few instances where people said the nails were too difficult for them to bend. Of course, the routine then could be changed so that you had your spectator bend the nail. (just pick people who look stronger than you) What's in the box? The download code for your videos, plus…. - 20 pieces 35mm nails - 10 pieces 80mm nails - 10 pieces 100mm nails - 14 exactly matching regular “non gaffed” nails Key points: The nails can be hammered into wood, before the miracle happens. After the nail is bent, it's impossible to bend it back. How are the production values: The talent is seated at a table in a living room setting. You will get both close up and wide shots and everything is well mic’d. Is it well made: the nails look – feel and even sound like real nails. Like the add copy says, you can even nail the gimmicks into a wood block to prove their constitution. The nails are also a one time bend and can not be “bent back” once performed with – so you will need to buy another set once these are all gone. Refills will one day be available. Is it well taught: Marc Lavelle and Rasmus teach this to you covering all of the basics. How to bend the types of nails, various routines, and different presentations should you find certain nails too difficult to handle. I think these nails are very versatile and will serve your needs well. For instance – worried that a magician will think there is a “switch?” Sign the nail. Worried that a spectator will take the nail home and try to bend it further? Don’t give it to them – or better yet – crush it all the way so it’s impossible to bend forward or backwards. Storage? Does it "pack flat?" The dimensions are above – but these appear to be standard steel nails with small heads. Does it "play big?" these will play big in the magician’s arsenal. Difficulty / Skill level required: All you need are strong hands – or good leverage. How much arts and crafts are involved? None. How practical is this in the real world? (can it really be done?) Absolutely – these are great for street magic, walk around – just about anything you can think of. Overall score: let's toss out the traditional score of 1-10 and make this something that we all can appreciate and understand. __X___ Very Satisfied _____ Somewhat Satisfied _____ Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied _____ Somewhat Dissatisfied _____ Very Dissatisfied _____ No Opinion My thoughts I’ve never done metal bending, it always looked like something I’d never get into – but with the ease of STEEL – this will make anyone an instant MASTER! Great door way to enter the world of strength acts or mentalism. This will turn you into the “Man of Steel” in seconds. + Hey do you want to see my full review with even more of my opinions and ideas? Thank you David for the Great Review. I'm very sure, that everyone will enjoy STEEL as much as I do, since the Bending is really simple. I will add a Trouble shooting Video to the Download Section of STEEL, so if anyone shpuld have any Trobles, there I'll share some helpful Tips how to Bend the Nails easily and How the Perfect Grip (Leverage) should look like. The Refills are pretty much packaged and will leave Switzerland on Monday, so next Week they arrive at Murphys and will be available shortly at any Magic Dealer worldwide. Bought this on a whim simply because I love metal bending. Played with the nails a little and basically concluded that it wasn't for me and that I'd never use it. Then I watched Madison's review (excellent by the way) and it prompted me to give these a whirl. Boy am I glad I did. I tried the pseudo hypnosis routine in combo with the business card bend. Had the wife hold the business card and the husband bend the big nail. Absolutely killed. Can't wait for the refills to be available.

I gotta tell you I've never used any of Rasmus products although his bend coins were very much on my radar. But Steel, well it rocks. Just did a show where I combined Steel with a Light and Heavy box routine. I had a guy about 6'7 and about 320 pounds. I actually was setting him up,but after he failed on the box, I presented him with the large nail. What was funny was when I ask him to bend it he just laughed and told me I was nuts. I ask him if he had ever heard of tai chi. I told him I was going to give him a burst of energy that for a moment would give him incredible strength. He killed that nail and stole the show to boot. The audience went crazy. Let me add one thing to this, he benches 550 pounds. Won't always use it that way but for Saturday night, it was awesome.
Good stuff Rasmus Best Steve

How do you straighten the nails for reuse? Will pliers do it or do you need a vise?

I've just got one . I immediately fell in love with it . It's going straight into my set , and I'm getting refills . Brilliant !!
When I used the 80mm for practice , I'm able to bend it back ( it required tons of strength though ) , but it won't be very straight . But it's practice so it doesn't matter , at least the nail can be reused . I can also bend the 35mm back , I place it in between the cards ( the bonus handling ) and bend it back . Again I only do this to save nails during practice . It won't be a straight nail after it's bent back though . That said , I'm not afraid of handling it out . It takes a whole ton of strength and time to get it bend back . I love this , thanks Rasmus !!

I hand it out and no one has "discovered" anything. The key is that they've just tried to bend it and couldn't even get it to budge. So when the nail actually bends, the look of shock on people's faces is really quite cool to see. I've only performed it in a live gig about 10 times thus far and so far, no one wants to keep the nail. They just leave it on the table.
