I've come across an interesting bill transformation, does not use a TT, the signature is retained, and it can be immediately handed out.
Kauffman published this in his book called Magic Tricks, and states that it was previously published, in one of his magazines, and its by Nicholas Night.

Has anyone tried this? If so, I have some questions on what would seem to be a weakness.

Thanks;
John

Can you describe it (without exposing)?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

The portrait side of A folded $20 is shown to the audience. The spectator is asked to put his initials on the portrait. This signed bill is then displayed for all to see.
The magi then pulls the edges of the bill so as to fully open the bill, but now it is seen to be a $5, and the bill with the spectator's (same) initials can be immediately handed out for inspection - there is nothing to be found.

This effect was in Magic Tricks, by Kaufmann, which I found in a public library, and otherwise seems to be oriented towards younger magicians, but he states that this trick is one of the more difficult ones. He also states that this effect was also in a magazine that Kaufman published "decades ago" and created by Nicholas Night - I didn't see it in The Collected Almanac, but he did say it was "buried" in the magazine.

For the book I have, it is titled Mr Jackson Takes a Powder

As in my original post, I was looking for someone that actually tried this, because there could be a weakness (which Kaufman briefly comments on) that could cause you to get "busted".
Not sure though
