I don't do a lot of card magic - a couple of forces - many magic card appearances, jumbo to tiny cards etc for children is all, but I bought a couple of decks of Bicycle Poker Cards the other day, remaindered at a variety store for $1.50 for the two, still sealed in their packaging.
Got them home and one deck is OK - normal (I think) but the other deck has me puzzled - Half the cards appear to be normal, but the other half are joined together. The cards on each end of this bunch look normal, but then a big square hole is cut through all the cards in between. There is some tape involved holding them together, and some tricky folding of the second cards from either end. The effect of theis is that the middle cards will swivel around on themselves somewhat. Please excuse the terribly not technical explanation - does anyone have any idea what this is, and if so what to do with it? At first I though it was just a faulty deck, but seems far to detailed for that. I would be very grateful for any assistance you can give - it is driving me mad not being able to work it out! Many thanks Kaz |

This reminds me of an old Supreme effect where a deck of cards 'visibly' penetrated a disc rather like a CD!
The cards suppplied with it were more or less as you descibe. I will try and find out what it was called. Mind you the original cards were Bridge size Piatniks but possibly it was 'updated'.

It could also be "part" of several trick decks which have something missing.

sounds like you have a pack of cards that have a secret compartment for hiding small items like coins or silks or even a Sausage!!

Sounds similar to Ronald J. Dayton's "Ultima Deck" produced by Supreme Magic. It's best effect is as follows...
Performer end shuffles the deck. Holding the deck flat with both hands, a card "rises," is turned over and is seen to be an ace. This is repeated for all the aces. Kicker ending - a coin is discovered under each ace. The thing that confuses me is your description of a regular card at each end of the gaffed block. If you remove the card at the face thereby allowing access to the hole, you should be able to work out how to prepare the effect. I used to do this ages ago and the ending killed because your hands were seen clean right throughout. Then again, maybe you have a pack of cards that have a secret compartment for hiding small items like coins or silks or even a Sausage!! Ian. |

That is the exact description of the Ultima Deck. Like Jones said, just remove the card at the face.
PS Thanks for the reminding me where I misplaced my sausage. |

My wife just asked me if I was poking fun at Wayman's post by repeating it.
I must make it clear that I was in no way whatsoever doing that. More like making a joke of my own offering. Just in case anybody else thought the same thing as my wife, I had to clear it up. Ian. |

What!? My wife doesn't think!
She probably wouldn't have entertained me otherwise. Anyway, I asked her to name one and she went for the two of diamonds. I can't wait to see your "out." Ian. |
