Talcum or baby powder works well.

Use Gold Bond powder on your hands. It dries up a lot of the moisture, but doesn't make your hands too slick to palm a coin. Also:
Keep your hands open and out of your pockets as much as you can Clean (not polish... clean) your coins prior to the performance Rub your hands together a bit before doing any palming to distribute the oils evenly... so some parts of your hands aren't slicker than other parts. All the Best, Mike |

Rosin is a good thing. Sorry to say my hands are almost always wet. You can read about my decisions in other posts on the café.

Jontown is right on target -
I will occasionally roll the edges of my Barber halves on a block of violin rosin to help get a better grip. You can get it at any music store for a couple of bucks, and it is not as messy as the powdered variety. Good luck!! |

Instead of running around town looking for a music shop that sells violin rosin, most non violinist use beeswax, at least drummers do.

Instead of running around town looking for a music shop that sells violin rosin, call around town and find out what music shops sell it. Or, you can check with your various local pharmacies and some hardware stores. Some of them carry rosin, either powdered or in chunks.
And you can purchase rosin from billard supply houses and some golf suppliers. There is also a hand drying compound that bowling alleys sell.

I tried talcum powder is useless for helping your hand. Where can I buy Gold Bond???? Any ideas and I'll be looking in to buying some rosin.

Gold Bond - Supermarkets, pharmacies, Walmart
Rosin - Darting supply shops, sports shops, bowling alleys, Walmart Give thought to the rubbing the hands together thing as well. It works for me. Also, don't hold a coin in your closed fist any longer than necessary, and don't squeeze your fist any tighter than you need to. |

I saw a product at Wal-Mart the other day, in the office supply section.
It comes in a flat round plastic container. It is meant to be applied to the fingers, and provides enough "dry tack" for paperwork, and sports such as bowling or darts. I cannot recall the product name off hand, but it is NOT the money-counting product known as "Kwik-Sort." I believe it may be made in France. |

Prior to all the powders I have sweaty hands as a problem and I usually put my hands in hot water yes Hot water before the time and do some funky finger exrcises to get the muscles going and then dip then in Ice cold water for about 10 seconds. That way your hand muscles remain Ok but the perspiratin stays away for a while.
Then apply Rosin I do think it is better. You can always use pool chalk but then you have to chalk up regularly |

I like to wash my hands with lemon or lime slices. I rub the juice on my palms, rinse with cold water. After I dry well, for me the handling of coins is easier. These are always available at bars. I started doing this at Malone's Magic Bar, it has always worked.
