I don't really see that it's a typo or a mistake just because some people aren't familiar with the phrase.

I thought it seemed very odd that someone with Looch's quality control would let a cover typo slip through the net.

The Rode NT55
From Rode's own website: the NT55 available as a single microphone or as an acoustically matched pair The other ones are harder to locate as those items don't have product names/numbers that are so easy to track down Please note I googled both of these with the product name and the term 'match pair' - nothing else And I didn't get anything but matched pair come back d a m you better tell the internet it has got it wrong |

Yikes The good thing is most people won't notice this typo [even though it's on the front cover] as they will be too busy chosing a page And if they do you have a few outs I suppose as long as the meat of the book doesn't have any mistakes [or made up English] then the majority of the time it won't be an issue |

To be fair, we are only guessing since we haven't heard back from Dannicus to discover what he thought the typo was.

The thing that jumped out at me was indeed "Match Pair". I certainly didn't mean for the observation to cause such a disturbance in the force however. It is an unfortunate error, but I personally would not consider it a deal breaker because...
1) It's a tiny book and I was looking at a still photograph so in performance it will likely go unnoticed and 2) If it became an issue I would say I thought it was a typo at first too until I realized it was the author's play on words, You know... how we light a match and set fire to our own lives by creating our own problems. As long as the interior content is solid I wouldn't sweat it at all, but to my way of thinking if I am aware of it, I can have a response prepared rather than stammer about it if someone else catches it. Hell you might even be able to use it to get spectators even further engaged if you think about it. It's about perspective.

I wouldn't be too hard on Phil either. I know I have heard terms my whole life and assumed they were saying something only to have an Ah Ha! moment and realize what I was hearing was indeed spelled differently. If you say matched pair to someone in casual conversation the "ed" at the end is virtually silent. I can easily see how he could have believed his whole life that the term was indeed "match pair". I am 55 and it has happened to me several times and most likely will again.
Trust me Phil as a fellow woodworker and craftsman the term is matched pair. As stated above however it is no big deal. As my dear Dad used to say; "Buried in the roots of every mistake are the seeds to genius Danny, you just have to be willing to look for them".

If anyone was worried they could use Cassidys idea of putting a sticker over the word saying 'half price' or something along those lines.
On another note, I purchased a few days ago but haven't received any shipping notice yet. When are they likely to be sent out to purchasers? Thanks |

I cant wait for you guys to get it in hand, for those of you who didn't get one of the original AREA Book test from 2010, there is a huge thread detailing owners thoughts and tips here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109 The book test itself works beautifully and I always have a copy in my pocket when I am hired to mingle at events. The real beauty of AREA is the ability to have the participant think of a word and you can instantly reveal letter after letter after letter without any resort to pumping. You are creating the illusion that you are already inside their head before you require the final piece of info. Some book tests require you to know the first letter of the word, and AREA has this built into it if you want to go down that line. However I recommend using the 'Blagging Principle' and the built in crib to reveal the full word with ease.

Cheers Looch. I've had the original since it was first released and am very happy I don't have to memorise anything new.

Have been using the original as intended for a couple of years but a few months ago started using it to practice an idea of Atlas Brooking's. Great that there is "No Joking" in either of your works. You could say they were made for each other - a "match pair", perhaps!
The only downside is that I have been absolutely paranoid about losing or damaging the book as it was irreplaceable. Always had to think twice about taking it out the house. However, I'll be a lot calmer now knowing that there is a a replacement should I ever need one. So glad Looch has decided to release this. It's a brilliant and devious book test. |

The regular edition (Single Book)(£99) is not limited so you will be able to get replacements in the future. I also priced the regular so it is significantly cheaper than the original AREA, this is due to the cost and improvements in the printing trade over recent years. Kind regards

I received my copy of the one book version yesterday and it's just as nice as I thought it would be.
The book is tiny which is great for me. The original was a great size for a jacket pocket and this could easily fit in your front trouser pocket with plenty of room left over. I very much like the size. The text inside is small but easily readable even with my eyes. This means that although the book is small, it still appears to have a lot of words per page. I think the choice of font type and size is spot on. Interesting words seem to pop out at you. The overall quality is great, from the style and artwork choices to the materials used . It's a well made little book and looks just like any one of those small books you see on the counter at book stores or in airport shops. Totally innocent. The cr*b is well hidden in plain sight but my eyes are not good enough to pick the words out so I won’t be using it. It’s a minor point for me and not a problem. I own many, many book tests but the only 2 I really use are the original Area and MOABT. The Nano, without a doubt, will be in the mix from now on. I will be using It for those times when I don’t want to carry a bigger book around. |

Hi Yuan
Thanks for your review of AREA Nano. In addition, Ive had a couple of people ask me 'What is AREA?' I sometimes forget that not everyone was around here back in 2010 when it first came out. Essentially AREA is a hands off book test that allows the performer to reveal words just thought of by a participant/spectator. What follows is the basic effect: The Basic Effect A small paperback miniature book is handed out to a participant who is asked to open the book to any page and to mentally select a word. The performer can be facing away as the participant does this. The participant doesn’t show the word to anyone and nor do they write it down. Yet the performer can immediately, without any sort of pumping or fishing begin to reveal with 100% accuracy letter after letter after letter of their word. The performer can then proceed to reveal the word in its entirety, bringing the demonstration of telepathy to an amazing & successful conclusion. There are some additional elements built into the book, including a rather wonderful bonus effect designed by myself and Michael Murray. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

Anyone know how many pages the book is
I fear it being a smaller book may make it seem like it's easier to remember every page Even if there are 300 pages The spec will come away remembering how small the book was and the simplist explaintion was that it was remembered Rather than it was mind read I think a full sized book with 300 pages will feel much harder to accomplish by memorisation Finally how examinable is this book Can a spec read one of the short stories or is it two pages and then it might become obvious? Thanks |
