A lot of us here have multiple decks, mostly bikes, but I am referring to those special decks here.... the rare decks, special or limited edition, the expensive $10,15,20 decks... do you use actually use them regularly? Or maybe just keep them for flourishes? Or do you actually perform with them as well?
(Now I am not talking about those super rare decks you can't get anymore or that $200 nostalgic deck.) I don't really have much of a collection at the moment, but I was looking to get a nice ($15-20) deck or two to use for just flourish practice and to have something different. (=

I have quite a few special decks, and I often use them to practice my flourishes or just to fiddle with. Because a lot of the special and rare decks look fancy, it can often take away from card effects as the spectator is to busy being wowed by the cards rather than the trick. But sometimes I perform with them to my friends or family, although it all depends on the trick. Tricks which may make them think it's a gaffed deck will make them more inclined if it's a fancy looking deck rather than just a normal deck!

I have used custom decks exclusively for years. At first I used them because I just liked the designs and had a bunch in my closet, but now I get sent a lot of free decks so it's actually cheaper for me to use them.
Personally I don't think custom decks are questioned as much as magicians say they do. I've never been questioned with custom decks. And if the deck is taking away from your performance, that's the performer's issue not the props.

I used to not open any expensive decks since I felt it was just wasting money. However, some of the new deck designs coming out these days have made flourishing more enjoyable to practice so I use more decks now.

For magic I pretty much exclusively use Rider Backs. In my collection I have some decks that handle beautifully, and arguably far better than the riders (Honeybee v1, Animal Kingdom etc), but, I always fall back to the riders for magic. Whether it's the simplicity or the familiarity? I don't know.

I use all my decks, but the ones which are out of print I keep them in the box and time to time I take them out to appreciate the art.

I don't use most of them. Bridged-sized bikes fit my hand best so I use those most often for performance, but I regularly play around with White Ghosts in performance situations as well. Practice at home often involves some old Blue Dragon bikes that have held up very well over many years. I have Black Ghosts, Black Tigers, and the recently released Black Roses White Gold deck that I hardly use for performance, but for appreciation of the art. I have a bunch of other decks that never get use but do get seldom appreciation though.
