I was wondering how many people have been successful with the Psy Force for the effects taught on this DVD.
Are there any effects on the DVD that work 100% of the time? I have been practicing mentalism for 4 years now, but usually don't do material quite as bold as this. I practiced my scripting, presentation and psy-forcing like crazy before giving it a whirl. I tied almost word for word what Pete did to force a word....and came up short. My spec's choose the most ridiculous things, even when I cancel a bunch of options out. Any suggestions, advice? Do any tricks work 100% for you? Of .. and obviously Im not fishing ... bought the DVD/download. Thanks |

I purchased and enjoyed that DVD, but never fully succeeded with the psychological material I tried, such as the coin effect. Some of the material on that download is 100% such as some of the card effects. But the psychological work will never be 100%.
Your luck will increase if you work with strangers who are compliant and believe in your abilities. Your luck will decrease if you work with people who know you well, are highly skeptical, or suspect that you are not really "psychic" or whatever. It is much like hypnotism in this regard. Belief increases compliance and cooperation. But, yes, people will often come up with something crazy and that will tell you something about them. And you can use that to start a conversation and move into your next effect. Think of psychological effects as a numbers game that pays off over time, but do not plan to get lucky every time. |

Thehillusionist - If you have Skype I'd love to run through some of the things I've added to these routines over the years plus ways to up the hit rate.

Recently picked this up, still waiting for it in the mail, can't wait to to have the time to watch it though. I am getting more comfortable with failure, and I agree with SecondSight it is a lot easier with strangers. Also that is very nice of the man himself to offer some help!

For instance, what if you performed a card force on the whole audience and then perform Bob Cassidy's Protean Eye. You will have a force that will work on most of he audience and then you can follow with a very pragmatic/reliable means to accomplish another form of influence. These work symbiotically to create a cohesive "whole" that suggests you can put thought in your participant's mind. I would suggest reading Banachek's Psychological Subtleties (One) to help with this kind of work. The confidence of knowing where your going increases your hit rate. Another instance with Pete's work: what if you structure "Wish You Were" along with another effect or a drawing dupe. You could influence the group to think of the location Pete describes and then perform an effect where someone thinks of a particular vacation destination. Because the psychological effect becomes the runway, you worry less and give a more room to work. It would also be helpful to know your setting when performing these: with friends, informally at bar, a structured group, etc.? I have different paths I take depending on where I am. I understood what you meant by "Freeform" right away and appreciated it. I can tell you've studied how apparent "psychics" get some of their info and you're tying a bunch of principles from different schools of thought together. I also try to be sure that I choose my spectator very carefully, just as I do with my hypnosis routines....but I'm growing tired of spec's throwing curve balls to see if I'm "actually" mind reading....and I'm looking for ways around that, while still being able to make use of the Psy Force. I have my BA in psychology and am a therapist and special education technician by day, so I am very confident, articulate and comfortable speaking. I want to explore this "freeform" stuff more before I resort back to other methods that have 100% hit rate, but are tougher to prep for, etc. I was hoping that with all of my practice, fluidity, choice of spectator, audience control and experience .. .that I would have a higher ht rate by now...but it just isn't happening. |

You can't treat this stuff like a self working magic trick where it will work no matter how unskilled you are and how unskilled you present it. This type of stuff takes some study and practice and understanding. You must be prepared to watch and learn, not watch half the DVD and go out and fool your wife. So, that's that. |

Agreed, except I'v practiced for many months and would never dream of doing this stuff for friends and family.
The material rocks. I have to look in to my own presentation to see whats lacking, but I feel like I'm performing *** near perfectly... so I'm trying to figure out if it's just a string of bad luck or what. If not, I need to tweak something. |

Sometimes it can be something as simple as restructuring a sentence. I totally agree. Sometimes a "word" in a sentence makes the difference. But I suppose that's why you travel the world doing shows and it's still a part time gig for me (I dream of it being a FT gig) ... You have this stuff down perfectly. I would love to take you up on your offer for the Skype meeting, I'm still out of town for X-mas vacation but will get back to you soon. Thank you very much for being so hands on with this .. very rare now-a-days. Best, Hillusionist |
