I own both the Lynx Smart Watch and the VAPR Watch. So what I can do is compare the two watches in a short review.

• Vapr watch is a real working Seiko watch. So you can use it as your everyday watch and believe me I do. It looks incredible. The Lynx smart watch does not tell time.
  
• Of the two, Vapr watch is the most quiet smoke machine on your wrist. You can hear slight sound of air coming out of the pump. Almost silent. The Lynx watch uses a fan which is much louder.
  
• Vapr Watch uses zero residue liquid in their refills which is required to use in the watch. The Lynx watch smoke liquid leaves a residue. You can see it after only one time using the Lynx Smart Watch. Which means the Vapr Watch is made to last. No residue with their liquid smoke.
  
• Vapr Watch is all self contained. The tiny pump is inside the watch and the tube hides perfectly inside the wristband of the watch. The Lynx Smart Watch has a dangling wire connected to the tiny fan that you must hide under your wrist between your bare skin and the wristband. Also with the Lynx Smart Smoke watch the battery is also connected to a wire that you must hide under your wristband. With the Vapr Watch all is inside the watch. Self contained.
  
• Vapr Watch will not burn your wrist or overheat. With the Lynx Smart Watch the heating element is touching your bare skin on your wrist so you will feel the heat and burn on your skin.
  
• With the Vapr Watch you can display 3 seconds and up to 60 seconds of smoke depending on how long you want to hold the button. With the Lynx Smart Watch you can only press button for 3 seconds of smoke before it burns your wrist. Then you must wait until it's ready for another 3 seconds of smoke.
  
• The Vapr Watch looks and feels like you would except from a high end stainless steel Seiko watch. Very stylish and it will make your magician friends jealous.
  
• The Vapr Watch is $250 before February 15. The Lynx Smoke watch is $375
  
• The Vapr Watch once you fill it with Vapr liquid it will last for 100 three second puffs. The Lynx Smart Smoke watch must have liquid added almost every time you use it.
  
• The Vapr Watch shoots the smoke into the palm of your hands while with the Lynx Smoke watch it looks like smoke is coming from your wrist.

VAPR Watch is a 10/10. There is nothing I can think I would improve on the watch. Sansminds has thought of everything giving us a completely finished product.

I fully agree to what you said . I can't find anything bad to say on the VAPR watch , everything is perfect right down to it's design and usage . If this came out before the LYNX , it'll reach it's campaign target in no time .

I've almost convinced myself to take the plunge and order the Collector Box, like you.

The only thing that holds me back at the moment from placing my order is the last updated
video by Sansminds in which is said clearly that any customer (after the first 300 VIP
backers) who places their order before the 15th of February (end of SM's special campaign),
will very likely receive their parcels whenever each of the rest ordered watches will have
been assembled by hand, implying that they would not be able to do it before May.

With that in mind, in case I order the Collector Box today, odds are high (if not 100%)
my watches to ship and be delivered sometime during May and ...December 2017!

And in case the 10 refill packs which should be added free of charge to my order, will ship
separately sometime later (after my watches will have been shipped), that means that my
refill packs could arrive, shall I say, on the first months of 2018?

Sorry, but I think that waiting for so long is something that's beyond my patience's limits.

I don't know what to do. Wish I could trust them even if I have to wait for a little more than
5 months in order to receive my parcel safe and sound.

However I have the feeling that they won't manage to fulfill their promise as I think they
won't be able to assemble by hand all the rest of the watches which will be ordered until
the 15th Februar, since IMHO their mission sounds almost immpossible to be accomplished
in terms both of time and money as it seems that unfortunately, they have no more funds
to keep their promise.

To avoid any misinterpretation or misunderstanding, I'm not implying that they will keep
my 500.00 USD and ship nothing since they won't have any more parts of the watches to
assemble, even by hand.

I'm just have the sense that I'll be waiting for 5 to 10 months and at the end they will offer
me a refund which really this isn't what I do want. And there is always the worst case scenario,
(it applies to several other dealers, too and not only to Sansminds) which in this case could be
the following one:

It could be possible for them to ignore constantly and endlessly any email and request for refund.

With that in mind and having 5 or more months passed, I or any other customer
won't be able to open a dispute at Paypal in order to take my money back.

How about that?

To clarify this once more: I'm not implying that Sansminds will definitely follow this path.

However the main majority of this company's products, with the exception of their brilliant
and awesome Pro Series and a few other less expensive releases, has shown that they tend
in general, more to prove me right.

Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

I want to see them kepping their promise. I want them to deliver the goods to me safe and sound.

I want only the two awesome watches. Nothing more, nothing less.

If anyone knows anything more about the time (approximately) the watches will be delivered at
regarding the customers who will have purchased them before the 15th February, I'd much
appreciate if he/she would chime in and shed some light.

Any help, suggestion or info about the aforementioned issue would be well appreciated.

I want to order too.... but I have the exact same concern as andrew...... I really don't think SansMinds will make it to 2000 orders (mass production) ... and waiting 6 months for a magic prop is beyond anyone's patience limit.

Unless they find a way to solve this problem I think it holds me back from ordering.

In less than two weeks the VAPR Watch campaign will end. And to be very clear after February 15 no one will be able to buy this amazing magical achievement.

This will never come to your local magic shop or online store. You will NOT be able to buy this from SansMinds. Only the watches pledged during campaign will be made. Some of you might be thinking GOOD. That way my watch will be more unique and rare. But here's the problem: If this ends on February 15 you might need a replacement or the next version. To be perfectly clear if this campaign fails you will never be able to buy another one. The VAPR Watch is just too good to lose. I don't want to see this fail. As of SansMinds' last video report last week we are at 25% of our goal. That means if we continue these next two weeks at the same rate this will be the last we will be able to buy a VAPR Watch. EVER!

The only way we will succeed as a magic community is to have all of us that believe in this project to tell all our magic friends right now!!! Time is running out!! I bought 2. But it's a lot of money (even if a reasonable value) and not a lot of time to sell many watches. I wish them luck but think they should extend the time period till after th first shipment have bee in the community for a while. Don't know if they can.

Fantastic new product... but full money up front with no definite build date or indeed a guarantee that you will actually receive it if you are not in the first 300? All I can say is wow!

If anyone suggested that you 'invested' $300 or even $500 in a non magical company (with not a great business record) with no product to offer at this time and no specific time scale to supply would you? I'm sure I wouldn't. Sometimes the hype of a product can take over rational thinking.

I must say the watch looks fantastic and is one of the most exciting props for years, it's just a shame that
SansMinds want us guys to take the risk and not the banks!

Am I missing something? I was under the assumption that if I buy a watch before feb 15th it WILL get made and I WILL get it just not telling of when....right?

If the campaign makes it to 2000 watches then vapr watch goes into mass production which means that vapr watch should ship in May. If the campaign does not make it then the watches are hand made and ship according to order number which means a longer wait. Sansminds has guaranteed that those who order the watches will receive them and if anyone decides that the wait is too long and cancels their order, the buyer will get a refund.

...If you really think that the smoke watch will fool people then by all means go out and use the darn thing. This, in my opinion, is another cool toy that will enable magicians to daydream the possibilities it will bring in furthering their career as house magicians at the local I-Hop. Once they realize the watch is more a pain than what its worth (ie technical issues that which will eventually develop). Less is more my young friends. Ashes on the arm will get great reactions without a plume of smoke hissing from your wristwatch...proper presentation will trump special effect toys when getting real people to enjoy your magic."

...wait...here's an idea for the smoke watch! I remember being bashed when I gave Little Man a sarcastic review. Boy...was I wrong!!! Every magician is performing Little Man and getting huge reactions from it. Why not use the smoke watch to create a mystical atmosphere before your little clay friend walks mysteriously across the counter top. SPOOOKY!

Looking at all the varied comments about customs hold ups and no tracking numbers I'm sure they will be busy TazBo!

Interestingly enough, the first 300 took about 3 months. Which means, starting Feb 15, they can probably produce around 900 units by hand throughout the course of 2017.

I do not know what the numbers are as of now but it does not seem to have crossed the 50% yet. So given the original track record, in case the campaign fails, the 2017 mark should still be met.

Of course, my advice is to actually have SansMinds fund whatever remains from the 2000 lot, mass produce them, and sell leftovers at a higher price. This will work for both new and current owners of the watch.

Of course, another advice is to have them renogotiate the mass production to a lower quantity like 1500. Yes, the price will be higher but I am confident more people will jump on board once they know the watch is there and ready to ship even if the price is higher.

Look at the new watches selling for 349 usd plus. Others sell at the 1000 usd mark. From a magic point of view, look at props that sell for 1000 usd and more when they literally cost a fraction of the price. So a $400 USD watch that does what is meant to do really well and as per the initial reviews blows any competition out of the water, I am sure many will get it.

Either way, I really hope to see this project succeed.

I think one of the biggest issues in the future no matter how many are made will be getting a watch repaired if something in it fails.

With extended warranty, you get 1 year and 3 months of full coverage. And since these can be handmade, I am sure repair will be a non-issue. Yes, outside those 15 months, it is an issue. I know some are already buying spares for that reason specifically.

I agree with rowland, I bought two anyway but I agree.
