I teach at a university in Seoul and students play this a lot between classes. This seems more organized, I assume because it's Sports Day. I've never heard it called particularly popular - tae kwon do, speed skating, archery, baseball, even golf are all much more popular. My university is known for baseball - Chan Ho Park is a graduate.
Jokgu is more a game than sport. In Thailand, there's a similar game called Tak Kraw, but it uses a rattan ball and the ball isn't allowed to hit the ground. The players are amazing athletes, sometimes flipping in the air as the kick the ball. I enjoyed your video. It's always nice to see things about Korea. |

Thank you gysyfish! I have a few videos up about Korea and a few more coming. I've been very lucky to spend as much time there as I have. I'll actually be visiting Seoul sometime within the next few weeks.
