Hello to everyone!
Underground Mentalist Nico Heinrich has released his treatise on the CT: In this ebook you won't find any ripping techniques or variations on the CT. Instead I discuss what makes a good CT, how you justify its use, when to utilize it, various psychological aspects and - last but not least - some real strong effects that you can perform anytime, anywhere, with almost nothing: * Wishes and Doubts: A mind to mind connection is established, and a wish that has never been written down is revealed. * Shared Happiness: The joy of the participant is felt by several people from the audience and described by the performer - using only a pen and a piece of paper. This is ridiculously strong and affecting material. * Unwritten: A thought that has not even been written down is revealed. Owners of Pure Mentalism already know the core principle. * Perfect Pitch: The performer guesses the name of the participant's first kiss. This is not only an effect but a new concept with the CT. * The Code: This piece is a perfect answer to the question "How do you read minds?" If you don't know what a Center Tear is, this ebook probably won't do anything for you. If you do though, you will definitely find something inspiring in here. Even if you don't like the CT at all, there are lots of ideas that can be adapted to other stuff. This material might even change your opinion on the subject. Possibly you will rediscover the great potential of this old, but still armed weapon. 1st edition 2017, 40 pages. _____________________________ I personally enjoyed this release. You will find good insights, psychology / justification as well as effects that can be peformed with a CT. Anyone who contacts Nico FIRST will obtain a review copy. I was given a review copy of the Reticle.
As said in the previous review it is a treatise on the center tear. I was surprised to see no comments on the ebook so I got a review copy. In the first half, It covers the basics on the CT nicely given handling techniques, theory and justifications. It is good to have all this fleshed out and in one place and there seems to be a need for this as there are always questions on the Café about why things need to be written down in addition to being torn up. It is good material for beginners as well as more advanced workers, but you already have to know how to do a CT. There are five routines that are different from each other with cleverly thought out motivation and presentation. There is no standard write a word down, peek it and reveal. None of the material involves anything more than a pen and paper. Wishes and Doubts is a ritual type effect. The info peeked is not what is revealed, but gives the performer a broad insight into their personality that allows for an easy Q and A if you wish, which then leads into a nice ritual performance of eliminating a personal obstacle. Shared Happiness is open ended in the size of the audience. It can be done one on one or for a large stage audience. What I liked about this is that everyone shares in the experience that ends with a feel good moment for the chosen spec plus the whole audience. There is plenty of room for your creative thinking. Unwritten left me a little cool. This is not something I would use and does involve a billet but not a center tear. I don’t care for the method and the outcome can be achieved in other ways that are more certain and have a wider range of possible information. This method is a repeat of a technique in Pure Mentalism and reviews in there were pretty high on it, though. Perfect Pitch is a name reveal like first kiss or other situation. But it is a list of four, one real and three fake people or you can use related items instead. I did not like it at first but after thinking about how I would modify it, I would use it. They make it up themselves so no fxxxce is involved. You can tell which one is the real choice and which are the fakes. It is a clever presentation and unique for a simple CT. You do need some audience management. The Code involves two specs, one billet and two bits of information. You are able to reveal which one of them wrote what. There is a lot of room for presentation here. So what I liked about these routines are the varied presentations and styles from a simple CT. With some creative thinking you could easily modify any elements you do not like. For me there were some of those. But after clean up, you have some solid routines for CT. Out of the five there was only one clunker, imho. |

There are two corrections to make on my review of Reticle.
The Unwritten routine in Reticle is the same in basic method to another effect in Nico's book Pure Mentalism. There is no center tear in the effect in Pure Mentalism, but there is a center tear in Unwritten from Reticle. The other correction is The Code. One spec writes a free choice word or item on a billet and shows it to someone else. They both get to participate in answering your questions about what the secret word might be. So my correction is only one word involved, not two. I was intrigued by the premise for The Code of using two people’s interactions on one billet, so I started playing around with the idea and ended up with a modification involving two specs each with a word written on the same billet. That is the idea that ended up in my review, not the actual routine in the book. |
