I was just wondering if anyone has this set yet, and what the quality was like?
Thanks, http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S22251 |

I have the set, and the quality is excellent. I had only one issue, and that is that the insert coin would sometimes get stuck inside the shell. I cured it by adding a tiny bump of plastic near the center of the shell.

As that's an important part of the gimmick that's quite off putting, in the demo I couldn't make out what the copper coin was....was it an English penny ?

The quality isn't excellent if the insert coin gets stuck. You shouldnt have to fix a coin set to make it function properly.
For 88.00, it should be Johnson quality, and Johnson products is all about consistency. It will be interesting to see how other sets measure up. |

One man's excellent is another man's barely usable. It's Tango so quality will be all over the place, but on average it's generally decent for the price.
The copper coin is a Walking Liberty copper round, more like a commemorative coin than one used in actual currency. |

The copper is actually a St. Gauden's $20.00 gold piece copy.

I am also interested about the Silver Copper Brass trasposition (CH002) Tango and the Euro-Dollar Silver/Copper/Brass Transposition (ED005) Tango. What is the quality and are the matched regular coins included?

Buyers should note that the usual CSB configuration is changed in this set. Usually, the silver American coin changes places with the two foreign coins of copper and brass. Not so here.
This would make it impossible to perform, say, Jim Lewis's classic "Foreign Exchange" and I think muddies the usual clarity of the CSB effect. Cheers, Jerry |

Hi, Warren. Yeah, I saw it. By the way I have just ordered the Two Copper and One Silver by Tango (D0063). Hope it will be OK. Of course, according the price the Dollar Size Silver Copper Chinese Transposition should be better quality, but I prefer the small size for now.

Got my set. Quality is nice. No issues with my shell and insert. The miracle move and other one hand unnest moves work smoothly. As Jerry points out above, the configuration of the gimmicks is diff than normal. So your patter will need to adjust from the usual "silver coin switches with the two foreign coins".
The normal copper coin is the nicest of the set. It's hefty, sharply milled and about a third thicker than the Eisenhower dollar and chinese coin. Chinese coin seems laquered with raised, vs painted on, symbols. Overall, for $88, it's a nice set especially given that a dollar sized set is hard to come by. Not Schoolcraft quality but better than Johnson or Johnny Wong quality. |

What is on the front and back of the copper round? The ones Mark Mason uses for his Morgan Hopping Half set has the exact same images as a walking liberty half on front and back and is a very nice round. I even bought some extras.
Unfortunately with rounds, the "tail" side varies on several that have the walking liberty on the "head" side. I own 1 other copper round with walking liberty on the front and a "Silver Eagle" shield on the back. Plus I have around 6 or 8 copper rounds I got local with a Chinese dragon on front and a Chinese hut or temple on back. I pick them up at a local coin shop for under $3 ea and use them for dollar coin practice (since they are a hair bigger and weigh a tad more). I also would like to know if anyone has tried the Scotch and Soda Ike and Copper coin by Tango? (Copper looks like Walker on front - unknown back)

A phone call isn't practical from the UK, someone did mention Google calls to me not so long ago but I have no idea how that works.
