Using a Dictionary for a book test has always been a logical progression for dealing with odds. 50/50 for the lowly coin, then 1 in 6 for a die, 1 in 52 for a deck of cards and lastly 1 in 500+ for a dictionary.
I stumbled across this while searching for something completely different. The Pictorial Webster's Pocket Dictionary, 9.5 x 1.9 x 14.6 cm, over 200 entries with a hard cover to boot. Cheap as chips and will look great aged and could easily pass for something from antiquity with that bizarre vibe. So I'm asking If anyone can point me to a book test which will be perfect for this little gem. I have bought two copies, so I am able to gimmick and switch, but would prefer to save on pocket space. I have 'Booked' by Steve Valentine, and Richard Osterlind's dictionary book test. Both have possibilities but wanted to sound you all out first before I commit to the destruction of one. Thank you in advance, George. |

In The Carlyle Touch http://carlyletouch.com/Carlyle_e-book.html Ray has an opening routine called the working mentalist dictionary. I think this could be adapted to work with the dictionary that you have.

Many different book test would fit your criteria. Flahsback, card in book, ring selection all of which would not have you gimmick the book. Regardless the Carlyle working mentalist dictionary way of gimmicking your dictionary would be fantastic. You might also want to consider A Word in a Thousand or Million respectively.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.
