Speaking of made in China sticker though China has taken this and copied it and sells it for about 20.00 they even call it The Gift by Angelo Carbone and use the same picture of the real item. I have the real one and not the knockoff but I am sure Mr. Carbone gets nothing from these knockoffs. I saw hem on the site everyone is familiar with and this really annoys me because I can see people that come up with a brilliant idea, not wasting their time releasing it to the magic fraternity.
The gift is by no means the only item, I have the original Kronos and I see it to was knocked off the same way using the inventors name. |

Yes I encourage anyone please not to buy any knockoffs. You really get what you pay for and the quality is not good so you would really be throwing your money down the drain. I have seen a couple in person and they would not fool anyone upon closer inspection. If the asking price is no where near the RRP price then it's a counterfeit item. Period. This goes for any magic trick not just this one. Don't buy knock offs in general. My friend got badly burned with a counterfeit version of "Probe". See photo. They are cheap for a reason.

Two things...
First if you haven't already joined the dedicated Gift Owners Facebook group, please do so. I just posted a video on there on how to have a large object inside the Gift box sitting on TOP of your prediction. That's right - the prediction is UNDERNEATH a large object inside the box. Not only does this justify the size even more so but makes it more impossible as there is no way you could have secretly sneaked in your prediction under the item inside. It had to be there from the very beginning. Join here. For OWNERS of the Genuine product only: http://www.facebook.com/groups/thegiftownersgroup Second, please be aware that if you buy The Gift or are sold one with a BLUE backed deck, you are buying a Chinese knock off version. The original ONLY comes with a RED deck. What is worse is if someone sells you a knock off version for the same price as a genuine version. Check now. If you need help, message me. Let me know what your specific cards are in the deck too. That's also a tell tale sign.

I have tried searching the thread, but this one has gotten pretty long. I am thinking about using The Gift in a custom routine and would like to know how many different predictions can be made? I saw Alex McAleer use this effect in the Champions of Magic show in the Arlington, Texas. The audience loved it.

I particularly like the additional routine which takes a bit more set up but is just mind-bending! Great release. Great effect. I really, really want to pick this up. I've spent a lot of money this Christmas on magic, and I wouldn't mind finishing it all off with The Gift. But, I've been super hesitant due to the things I've read; namely, the quality control issues. If I order this from a reputable dealer, am I going to have to perform immediate maintenance on it just to get it to work right? Am I going to just have to hope I get a well-made product? Is the extra secret utensil that comes included actually good enough to make this effect work properly? So many questions, but for 75 bucks, I need to be absolutely sure.

Update: I have no self-control and ordered it anyway, performing the killing blow on my wallet this holiday season. I'm hoping the fact I'm terrible at any sort of arts and crafts will not hinder me from making any necessary adjustments.

I don't yet own The Gift, but I'm planning to buy it in the next few days (probably from Penguin). I've read here that the quality can be a bit suspect (I'd be interested in any updates from people who have bought recently to see if this has improved, by the way). I am also planning to order a new PK ***g along with my order to avoid one of those quality issues mentioned a number of times above (and, I think, fit better with my performance plans). Are there any recommendations on a PK ***g that would work well (especially polarity, also strength) with this effect? I understand/have seen the basic principle and would like to perform this using a PK ***g rather than a TT. If there are any recommendations for an appropriate choice (ideally also available from Penguin) I'd appreciate hearing those. Alternatively, are there any that I should avoid? I'm looking for a PK that will work well with this effect (primary), and also is a solid utility piece for other effects (secondary).
