Has anyone heard of this or have it? Is it good for headline predictions? I'm trying to find a good effect for headline predictions but affordable. I know there are books out there that offer headline predictions but I don't know if they are good and if I would be able to do them.

Two Sources: Banachek's audio tapes on Radio Magic work and Ted Lesley's PARAMIRACLES... both have excellent Headline Prediction bits... I've used the Lesley technique for years with very positive success.

I'm uncertain.. probably Corrinda... you will find the Air Tight Prediction... Glenn Falkenstien shared this with my ages ago and both he and I have used it extensively. It is to my understanding that Kuddha Bux also used this method... Hey! This bit is about a cheap as you can get... a balloon and slip of paper!

Though I can't reference the issue, the old Bascom Jones "MAGICK" newsletter had some clever ideas along this line... one that I've used required a TT and use of a 35mm film vile... might be worth looking up (I've won some good bar bets using it Smile )

Best of luck!

I think what both Craig and Skitch are referring to are incorrect names for the same effect, Barrie Richardson's "Totally Isolated Prediction", from his book Theatre of the Mind (I'm certain this is what Craig is referring to, not sure if it's what Skitch means or not).

The principle could be used for a headline prediction, but I wouldn't, for the same reason that Barrie explains in the book that he stopped mailing the prediction for his presentation in advance--there's a good chance that the balloon will deflate (or even get popped) in between when you mail it and showtime, in which case it's kinda a bust (you could work your way out of it, but it wouldn't look so great).

You're right Andy, in regards to the balloon problem... this is typically set up for a short two or three day in advance stunt... like the other I mentioned, it's a great Bar Bet type of deal (though it can be used otherwise).

The Balloon Prediction thing pre-dates Barrie's birth so I'm certain you're referring to a more up-dated version to what I'm discussing here (that is, unless Barrie is much, much older than I thought he was... by about 30 years.)
