I have the spiderpen pro and the Tarantula.
I have not been using the spider pen pro because I HATE the 30 second auto stop to save battery power, where does an ITR get off telling me when it decided to stop being an ITR especially when I am in the mist of setting up the atmosphere, ha ha ha Nonetheless Yigal is awesome and I can't wait to see how he re-invents the Tarantula. |

Would you guys suggest waiting for this release, or getting the Spider Pen Pro?

Wait for this release is my two cents. I see Penguin is trying to sell off some SPP's before TII's release.

In fact, I had 2 Tarantulas and couldn't even make one work properly using the other as parts when it broke after a couple uses. This new one would have to be re-done from the ground up and I still do not think I would get one. I have read many posts where people were happy with their SPP though.

Many people have purchased knock-offs of both of these products that did not function well. They both have their uses. Tarantula is a device that is 'in the hand'. It is easily concealable, though, and can be used from wherever your hand can go. SPP stays stationary, but your hands are clean. I'm sure you can find a way to make either work to your satisfaction.

9 MONTHS !!!!!!!!!!!
9 MONTHS !!!!!!!!!!! You have GOT to be kidding me. MSD921, you MUST remember, the Spider Pen pro STOPS WORKING after 30 seconds of inactivitiy. And when I mean inactivity, it doesn't mean you didn't pull thread from it, I mean you have to pull enough thread from it for it to re-register that it should reset its internal 30s countdown to save battery life. It is very VERY annoying when it happen, when you are RIGHT in the middle of the float and everyone is just stunt and the moment of magic happen and you wish it last a little longer but then the 30 second time is up and the whole reel went dead on you and the object drop and then the drop cause the reel to wake up and pull up and your audience is like "wtf...is there a thread ?" I have placed my Spider pen away and use a normal good old I.T.R and it pays off like butter, the good old trusty I.T.R, I love my good old I.T.R to bits, I am also looking forward to my kevlar Pen reel that I just purchased online. If only there is a way to turn off the automatic cut off in the Spider Pen Pro. I don't want the spider pen pro to be a smart aleck and tell me when it decides to shut down, I would literally remove the battery if I have to when I am not performing thank you very much, don't stop working right in the middle of an act Mr Spider Pen Pro, that is why you are in the back of the drawer now. |

Very good, SoyMilky... Can't go wrong with an ITR. For an experience where one could say, "LOOK MA, NO REELS!" I highly recommend, Who's Afraid of Invisible Thread by the late Jon LeClair.

EZrhythm, I read through your messages and I just want to share something funny with you....I still have 9 Spinnerets with me.
That space bottle thingy ? You cannot use wax to secure that other end NO Way, if you use other way of anchoring, yes it may work ;p |

The spp as long as your moving the I.T it wont turn off. When your floating a dollar you make the dollar float up and down. You don't let it float for 30 sec without moving it. By the way had mine for years and still love it.

The auto-shut off gives you the option of letting things shut down if you have a need for that, it saves the battery, and it eliminates the need for an on/off switch. As for Mesika's delays in getting product out, that seems to happen quite often when dealing with creators directly. If there's one thing I've learned over the last few years from reading other peoples' experiences here at the Café, it is that it is generally better to order products from established dealers who don't accept orders for out of stock items.

I'm curious what differences there will be between new and old versions. The ad copy doesn't say.
