Looks great. If it is as good as it says, then it is a winner for sure.

Mark shared this a couple weeks ago at a lecture in NY. It's a cool, straightforward routine. Not super sleight heavy either.

I know that the version he shared involved a gaffed deck but would be interested to know if the version offered here is improvised.

I wonder what kind of slights. I didn't see anything of note in the video.

Let the games begin.

Looks identical to a one ahead style ESP prediction but with cards. Is this new enough to be a release on its own?

Ok, so I just finished watching. I think its good. There are two versions, one using a gimmicked deck, and another one using a regular deck. Both will require an extra gimmick which many of you will have. Mark is a good teacher, and the credits for the effect are good. I recommend this

Absolutly agree with you!

I had seen the beautiful effect "Rhine`s Revenge" many years ago on Tv and "came up" with a version using normal playingcards as I had no marked esp cards. I knew that it was a much weaker version than the esp card version (weaker presentation, playingcards again..), so never performed it.

If(!) that uses the exact same methode then it should not be released. (even a sleightly different methode with a weaker effect should not be released)

I like Madison wonder what is new here. The ad and demo could not be any vaguer.

Is the gaff easy to make or readily available? I wonder about the investment give I live overseas and shipping is not the cheapest.

How does the non-gaffed version compare to the gaffed version?

What is the reset like?

I just hope it is not simply a o** ah**d with ma***d c***D's. I am not trying to guess the method here. I like Mark's work and I hope to hear a bit more about it from owners.

Paul Gordon also has a very similar effect called the Muldoon Match in one of his books that uses a d****e b****r

Mark Calabrese here, just wanted to jump on and clarify that the method to red mango and Rhines revenge are NOT the same in any way.
The method is similar to Paul Gordon's Muldoon match in that it uses a similar gimmick but in my opinion is a vey different method and effect

This does not use the one ahead principle, but to give those a hint, it is my handling for a Hector Chadwick effect, which he graciously gave me permission to publish.
I hope that was enough of a hint and I hope that clears up any questions

That was my first thought as well. Paul's one has them lay their cards out face up. This is face down, but a marked deck would fix that.

Ok guys so let me clarify something. It seems like people on the Café like to compare something that is released to past products which is completely understandable

But I see a lot of dismissive statements like "it looks like just xxx"
"It seems to be this method"

Etc etc.

I'm going to say something that we've all heard before

"Nothing is new"

And I agree to a point

For example with red mango

It is similar to rhines revenge and Paul Gordon's Muldoon match. Neither of which I had seen before.

But while mine is similar in that we all lay down three cards and the magician does so first, here's how mine is different and, in my opinion , better, and stronger for the spectator.

Mine has no funny moves. Three cards are placed down and picked up with no secret or blatant change in the order. The spectator can watch that. There's no moving around of cards that changed the integrity of the fairness of choice.

My cards are face down which enhances the impossibility because To the spectator I could not have known which cards where placed down.

What I care about with My magic is what the spectator sees and remembers. I use methods that work. If they are new methods so be it. But I care more about the right method. Not the newest method. And the methods that some people on here so casually dismiss on here like they are yesterday's newspaper are methods that I've combined to create an image for the spectator that up to this point was not possible for them to see.

Some can argue that playing cards are weaker than ESP cards. I disagree. But to each his own. You can do red mango with ESP cards.

What I'm supplying is a handling for an effect which there have been multiple versions of how to accomplish the effect. I've tried almost all of them. And what I came up with was something that met a criteria that I felt was important to meet if I wanted to fool an audience and clearly display this impossible coincidence effect.

I try very hard not to include things like "no magnets" "no force" "no blah blah blah" To entice a consumer Because I feel like if a magnet, force , or whatever other technique makes the effect the best possible and most amazing, I'm gonna use it. And so should you.

With that being said, here is an uncut video of red mango. It's devoid of presentation and it's just a quick run through so the honorable person will buy it to hear my thoughts and the cheap idiot will try to reverse engineer the effect and not spend $9

Hope this clears some stuff up and at least makes people think differently

I love your patience and attitude Mark. I'd hate to be a creator and have to deal with magicians here myself. Appreciate you sharing your work and hope you continue to do so.

Thank you Nathan. I have a love/hate relationship with this website. On one hand I do like a place where people can come together with a common love for something but on the other hand this site has become a place where people just complain and as a leader you are ***ed if you do and ***ed if you don't. It doesn't matter what you do, you can never please everyone and when I first started creating, it would bother me, but now I realize that you either like what I do or you don't, and if you do I hope they continue to support my work and if they don't, well there's nothing I can do about It and I'm not working for them anyways. What I do wish would happen is instead of people complaining, to instead ask themselves "what could I be doing instead of !@#$% about something?" Can I make it better? Can I make it work for me?"

People who complain and do nothing to change the current situation are really what's wrong with magic

One bit of advice. If you are thinking about creating magic, and you want to still be passionate about magic, DON'T sell your material.

Just finished watching and I have to say this is absolutely Hector Chadwick all over. Granted, Mark sites this as the main source of inspiration and kudos to you for that Mark. Essentially though, routine 2 is identical to Mr Chadwick's except the 'clean up'. I like what you have done to change it Mark but you've replaced a move with a move and made the cards unexaminable, to me this is a step backwards.

While part of the method is as old as the hills and has been routined in a myriad combinations you are only changing the clean up method. I say clean up, but as already mentioned, in the act of cleaning up here, you are actually dirtying the cards/ending. I hope that Hector has been spoken too prior to the release of the effect.

For those who don't have Hector Chadwick's exceedingly hard to come by book, Mental Mysteries, this is a god send and Mark has had Hector's permission for his routine to be explained.

Nice effects that will fry audiences for certain, but a step backwards as far as method is concerned. So many more plus points to add here but it would completely tip the method. Sad face thing :-(
"I seriously love the disarming flexibility of Mick Wilson's SDP...one of those rare card-handling procedures that exemplifies the concept of 'why run when no one is chasing you'. SDP is an open-handed utility tool that conjurers will use to great advantage when creating new effects in the years to come."

Your entire post is completely contradictory.
"Is a step backward" but it will "fry audiences for certain"

You hope Hector has been spoken to prior to the release and then in the next sentence you say this is a God send and you acknowledge that I have his permission.

You say step back and I have to politely disagree with you. I don't know how much you perform but as a full time worker, what I have found is that what the audience sees, and remembers is most important. And the "dirty work" is very simple to clean up. After the trick is done, you do the clean up whenever you want. If you look at the method as a step back then you obviously don't perform enough to know what you're talking about. And obviously your mind is going back and forth between it being "a god send" and "a step backward"

Make up your mind buddy

My bad as far as the edit goes there Mark, guilty as charged. I edited after reading one of your earlier posts. Fooling the public and step backwards in method are 2 completely different things. You've made a clean trick dirty! As for your remark: "If you look at the method as a step back then you obviously don't perform enough to know what you're talking about.", that's one hell of an assumption on your behalf and a bad one at that.

In short, I critiqued your work, made an error in editing and receive a personal attack in return. Nice one Mark, very professional.
