1KJ Inner circle Warning: We will run out of new tricks in 4385 Posts |
Like many magicians, I have way more magic than I will ever be able to use in a lifetime. I don't regret it, because even after years of accumulating magic, even this year I have replaced some old stuff with some new stuff. For example, Whiplash by Josh Janousky has worked it's way into my repertoire just this year.
On the other hand, you can't blame me for venting a bit when I get suckered by crap like this. I will go out on a limb and say that within less than a year, not a single magician, including Rus himself, will have this garbage in his wallet ready to perform with a borrowed deck. I bet a donut that by one year from today, there isn't a single post on this thread of someone using this. kj |

@1KJ,totally uncool for exposing part of the method and still continue to talk about it. If you are that upset with yourself for purchasing this forward me your PayPal address and I will refund you!
My opinion on this is it's a great little effect,so simple to do, being able to use the spectators cards is a bonus for me as I don't usually carry cards with me and it DOES NOT feel like I have to carry a 500 pound gorilla on my back! Kieran |

In fact, if anyone is using this one year from today, come to Los Angeles and present this effect to me. We'll have donuts AND margaritas and then we'll go to the magic castle to celebrate.

Well I performed it last night and it got great reactions, so to each their own.
As I said earlier, I modified things a bit and placed the prediction in a single (gimmicked) envelope on the table. No wallet needed, just a small envelope that I can use with any deck. |

Call it what you want, but buyers have a right to know certain things. That's what the café is for. There was no exposure here. Anyone who read my posts would have no clue how to perform this from my posts. |

What's the problem with carrying around 6 outs in your wallet? Maybe you should ask Malini, he would carry a block of ice with him all day...
If you want to perform a certain effect, you need to pay a price. You are not disappointed with the effect, just with the method. You are not willing to give of yourself for your magic... or not

So willingness to carry 6 outs in a wallet is now a measure of someone's commitment to magic... you've got to love this place, It's entertaining as hell.

BTW, I'm not opposed to carrying something if it is worth the effect. Bang On, for example requires several things to carry. In fact, the way I perform it, I carry twice as much, but the effect is so worth it. Someone names a card, I pull out my wallet, pull out an envelope, dump the contants of the envelope in their hand, and it's their card to keep. To me that is worth carrying "some stuff". To each their own. Some on the Café get a bit hostile because something is not someone's cup of tea. Live and let live. KJ |

I happen to be a part-time professional. I earn a decent amount of money through magic. But, If someone is an amateur performer who performs seldom, are they not entitled to an opinion? I would say that probably in 90% of my posts I am positive about the effect. I'm still entitled, at least 10% of the time to share a concern, No? KJ |

BTW, when I say 90% positive posts, I mean all my posts, not just this thread.

First, I believe these your SOME of your posts. I would call these hostile posts. And I do think there are others but's neither here nor there. Second, absolutely your are entitles to your opinion, as everyone is. But to go on expose the method (whether you think you did or not, you did) is rather amateurish. And I guess for someone who performs for money that compares carrying 6 outs to a 500 pound gorilla just raises a question mark, that's all. Many full time well-known professional performers carry outs for routines that are excellent effects. RNK

OK, RNK, fair enough. However, if a magician is going to have to carry 6 outs, they would want to know that in advance of purchasing the effect. As I said before, I am not opposed to carrying "stuff". I have used twice as much "stuff" for Bang On, but I knew going into it that there were outs involved.

If that's a concern, I suggest getting one of these: http://www.full52.com/rps-envelopes/
With a little creativity and this utility envelope, you can perform this effect with a single envelope on the table (or in their hand) that contains the prediction. This is how I perform it and its been working out great. |
