This is a great new little effect by Mark Elsdon! You can see a performance of it and my thoughts about it on my new review channel, "DormRoomReview" here:

Madison,
This is my type of effect, especially when I heard FASDIU I was sold. I'll read it tomorrow. Thanks! |

Nice review Madison!
Seems like you changed/modified the trick enough that you could market your own version. Just kidding (sort of.) "If you have any knowledge of card magic" is a kind of vague and it's difficult for me to know what you consider to be pretty common knowledge. How much pocket space does this require? |

This looks almost identical to Rich Aviles' Pocket Protectors, in his Above the Fold booklet (2010).

You are correct there is some overlap with Pocket Protectors . The handling of the 3 cards is different between the two effects . Mark's handling is the same as my own . He was unaware of my version which I happily shared with him last week and independently came up with his version without any knowledge of Rich's effect . Rich gave his blessing for Mark to publish his version which is included in the credits at the end of the ebook

I always loved Mark's thinking. This is a great effect to add to your arsenal, I'll be using this.
I agree with Madison's points about the handling and will be using his idea of delaying the reveal as it's much more clear when presented in this manner. All in all, if you like the look of this, you can't go wrong for the price. |

I don't have "Pocketses", but how are these different? They look IDENTICAL to me. (Based upon the performance I watched by the OP.)
Hoping somebody might be able to tell me otherwise. |

Wow very similar indeed, only difference between Pocketses and The Mexican Prediction (I believe-imho) is the slightest of set-ups before performance which negates the problem with Mr Elmsley's approach if the spectator picks the wrong suit, which is a definite plus, on the downside you have to go to a pocket and that's where the beauty is with Mr Elmsley's that's its so clean and above board. Swings and roundabouts I guess. There are other handlings in Mark's pdf (pocketses).
Don't feel like I'm giving anything away as the performance is at the top of the thread. Love your reviews MadisonH just wish they were more frequent Great speaking with you again Mr Nimh. Greig. |

That's what I suspected Greg - thanks for verifying that for me.
There are several easy ways to deal with the minor little niggle from Elmsley's routine too. None require going to a pocket, nor any set up at all - exact same concept. This routine seems a step backwards, not forwards. Mind you, I haven't seen any of his other handlings, but given that the method is identical otherwise, is Elmsley credited? If you like the delayed handling,(and for a prettier end picture) I'd recommend looking up Bro. Hamman's gambit used at the very end of his routine "Your Signed Card." It can be found in either his book "Secrets of Bro. John Hamman" or in Michael Ammar's ETM Card Miracles, under the title of the same effect. |

I just bought this from Lybrary.com. The text says there are videos accessible from the .pdf illustrating the moves described, but there are only blank places on the page where the video links are supposed to be. Does anyone else's copy have the videos?

You need to use a better PDF viewing software. If you use the free Acrobat Reader you will be able to watch the videos.

I thought that when you click on a file you've just bought from Lybrary.com, it automatically opened Acrobat, but it doesn't -- you're looking at the file with Edge, which apparently won't show videos embedded in the .pdf file. I downloaded the file and opened it with Acrobat and viewed the videos. Thanks. |
