Just to clarify, SSS wasn't created as a companion for Roxy. I happened to be talking to J.c. asking about a teaser post he had sent out saying he had something new coming. I emailed him to see if it was another long awaited product that I want to add to my collection, but J.c. confided in me that it was a scrying tool and after reading Roxy asked if he might include it with SSS. I agreed as it just seemed to be a perfect match and so it was more just a wonderful synchronicity that put these two things (which were both years in development) together. Put it down to the Zeitgeist, fate or coincidence, but in any case these two creations just seem to need to be together.

It sure is beautiful. Because our preconceived notions tell us subconsciously what a crystal ball should look like (transparent and open), seeing one created with this opaque black finish gives the shocking visual impression that it genuinely contains some unspeakable darkness.

The notion that a gazing ball should be crystal and clear doesn't go back quite as far as does the use of the black Obsidian when it comes to reflecting, scrying, telling of the past present or future (or use for Spiritual properties). Obsidian predates the use of such crystals as quartz and the modern glass ball. Is it more mysterious in nature...absolutely! When you look at a crystal ball, you are mostly looking thru it...what you see is what is on the other side physically...while yes, it is an interesting thought metaphorically as far as what I just said, "the other side", but while gazing at the Obsidian Sphere, what you see is reflection. This may be the reflections of yourself, or may be the reflections of someone or something other than what is reality in the physical sense. And of course this is where Roxanne can come into play. But even more, there is a powerful Spiritual nature to the stone which is believed to be an aide for the use of contacting the other side...and again there are great things detailed regarding this in Roxy. As a protection during performance Obsidian is said to absorb negative energies...so you can play it off as a device for protection from bad energies without doing anything in regards to scrying. Plus it is a great focal point and conversation starter!!! I will point out that Spiritus Spheara Scry (SSS) is somewhat of a limited item. I am unsure how many I will be making and it all depends on certain parts being available. Currently I have the ability to make about 20 more (that number may change tomorrow for all I know). So if you want one I certainly wouldn't put off too long. Its a reality that I am realizing that you sometimes can't always get the things you really want if you wait too long to get them. |

I was in the middle of commissioning a spirit board from Mooreni Magic when a picture of the SSS appeared on line. I was immediately captivated by the whole concept. The box that is comes in, the small victorian stand, and the obsidian sphere itself (I was even taken with the hasp that secures the box). So, knowing the quality of the products at Mooreni, I ordered one.
It truly is a work of beauty! I have had it in the house for a few weeks now (along with an amazing glass topped spirit board) and could not be more pleased. The sphere itself is huge and HEAVY. It just feels fantastic in the hand. The box is solidly made and lined, with a supporting shelf for the sphere. The brass stand is stored under the shelf, and the sphere is wrapped in a dee red cloth. The outside of the box has extra detail and a nice dark finish, which absolutely goes with my own look and feel for my stage set. It also simply sits well in my front room along with our other objets du art. This is a work of art, a conversation piece, and a performance piece all in one. |

I like the idea of a black ball but my concern is that I would trade out the stand for one that can take a little movement without the ball falling to the table. To me if a sitter pushed on the table it may cause the ball to fall..... Maybe offer two different stands that the buyer can choose.
I am only going with what I see from the photos. I may be wrong, but that it what it looks like to me. Ray |

One would have to hit the table really hard in order to knock the Sphere from the stand. A simply pushing the chair back from the table won't affect the Sphere at all. If someone were to slam back into the table as if they were falling into the table and the table was breaking their horizontal movement, then perhaps it might knock the Sphere off (it would also knock over a glass of water or other objects...certainly a wine glass would fall over much easier than the SSS). If the table has no table cloth on it that is in a way fixed, the Sphere and stand will simply slide a bit (still a hard hit is required). If the Sphere and stand are placed on top of the red cloth that is provided (and directly on the table), it will simply slide a bit (again a hard hit required). Even if the Sphere and stand are resting on a "fixed" non moving table cloth, so as the stand can not slide at all, it will take a significant jolt to the table or the table tipping 13 degrees from level in order to even start to topple the Sphere. As is typical of my work, I have thought all of this out in the design process. My favorite number is 13...it takes 13 degrees of tilt before the base of the pedestal starts to lift...imagine that and even then the Sphere is not leaving the top of the stand. So someone pushing back from the table won't topple the Sphere or the stand. The design of the stand as far as elevating the Sphere and having minimal contact with the Sphere allows optimal surface of the Sphere for observation, and again it is based on an actual turn of the century early 1900's design. I am sure that those who currently have the SSS in hand would testify to its stability. |

Hey Ray,
Hope that didn't come across as being too defensive of a reply (didn't mean it to be). I just wanted to reassure you and anyone else who thinks it might be tippy that it isn't. And I do get it...you look at it and wonder...like a golf ball on a tee. But the fact that the Sphere weighs in at just shy of 3 pounds amazingly holds it down. If it were lighter in weight or taller, then yup it wouldn't be a good thing. |

I have used a black mirror and a half diamond shape black Obsidian in the pass, but like the idea of a ball shape sphere that is raised, sitting in the middle of the table. I bet that candle light would really play off this. I am interested and you have my attention. Ray |

At the same time I bought my Mind's Eye Box Deluxe from JC (a few weeks ago), I also purchased a Spiritus Spheara Scry. It's fantastic. The box and presentation are VERY convincing and it adds a whole new dimension of "bling" just having it sit on the table at a party or corporate event while I'm doing readings. I think just about everyone asks about it, what it is, and how it's used. I do actually use it, too, but just having it completes the ambiance. This is important for the clients I work with. The sphere itself is superb. The stand is stable and very beautiful and I can't imagine anything looking more Victorian (which is what I personally like). The box and wrappings it comes in are workmanship of the highest quality. I'm very satisfied with my SSS. Anyone who has a use for such an item will most certainly have to look far and wide to find anything better than this. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I recently purchased Mooreini's Spiritus Spheara Scry (SSS), and I must echo the other comments that this is a truly beautiful piece and incredibly well made. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is remarkable. I love the felt lining inside the box, the feel of wood and weight of the sphere, the antique stand, and so on. It sits very stable on my table, it's extremely solid and should last a lifetime (and likely longer than that). Everything is immaculate, I can't stop looking it!
I also had an amazing experience purchasing from JC, and he went above and beyond in arranging shipment for me to Canada. The included Brynmore's Roxanne Effect is also a wonderful bonus. It's excellently thought out, thorough, well written, and includes many different possibilities for presentation explored. I especially enjoyed the section summarizing the scientific research behind the Roxanne Effect. I look forward to putting these ideas into practice. Full disclosure: I have no prior connection to JC Mooreini. I'm just guy who found this product through this exact thread I'm now leaving a comment on, and I paid full price for this item. This comment is just a small token of my appreciation for his work. I absolutely love this piece, it's a work of art. |

If you really want to get sitters to "see" things during a Seance then modestly I suggest my book Apparitions. It's the basis for really giving a group an experience. Just ask anyone who has ever seen Terry Tyson do his routine ... red lights, flickering candles, and a black rock. It blows people away.It certainly works with a black Obsidian sphere if that's what you prefer to use.

Black rock? Is this based on Brother Shadow's work?

Absolutey. In fact it evens has the "real" history behind it - so who did come up with the idea? Was it Shadow or Andruzzi? If you were a follower to Path Of Roodmas you'd know. Page 64. This is based on a letter Carl sent me February 1991.

Bro. Shadow said it was based on an exercise found in Mind Games by Robert Masters and Jean Houston, that was subsequently adapted into a routine called the Fairy Goblet.

Masters and Houston was the original core and they are mentioned in my book. However the actually "ritual" was created by Tony BUT Carl performed it first and wrote it up in The Parts To Roodmas! We are talking about a very short time lag between the two friends and they remained good friends. Certainly as the vast number of people in the spooky world think of it as staring at a black rock.
Terry Tyson uses it as the killer routine in his current Seance. Then the final ENDING leaves people absolutely speechless. They HAVE seen something. Here's copy of Carl's card in my collection from that time frame. |
