Horrible news. A brilliant mind in the world of Mentalism. He left an amazing legacy. It is very a sad day for our community.

RIP, Bob.

Profile of IAIN early post made by Bob over a decade ago...lets remember him for what he was, an intelligent, funny and eloquent man and a master mentalist...

On Apr 17, 2002, mastermindreader wrote:
Here is the time proven formula for successful mentalism which is precisely why it is such a popular and wide spread approach among the cognescenti.

1. Open with a discourse (some levity permitted, but make it plain that this is a serious business) on the various forms of ESP as described by Dr. Rhine in his definitive works on the subject. Be sure to carefully explain the difference between each of the forms of esp- a) Telepathy, b) Clairvoyance(and perhaps clairaudience if you wish to appear extremely well versed and erudite in the field), c)precognition, and d) telekinesis. (By referring to the latter as "psychokinesis" you will subtlely show that, despite your dry demeanor, you are really quite "hip," as the youngsters and beatniks like to say.)

2. Make it clear that you are a recognized authority in the field (some casual references to the works of Franz Mesmer and Sigmund Freud would seem to be in order. (maybe even Carl Jung if you would like to appear slightly eccentric). This will gain the respect of your audience and serve to subconciously "prove" that here is no mere conjuror, but an educated man of letters whose every word should be carefully considered.

3. Proceed to demonstrate each form of ESP.(Read thoughts, reveal unkown facts, predict the future and cause movement in inanimate objects) Follow this with demonstrations of allied areas of mental and psychological phenomena such as rapid calculation, photographic memory and, of course, a brief foray into the field of hypnosis.

4. Most important- avoid the trappings of show business. Dress in a dignified manner and eschew the use of devices and techniques that would mark you as an entertainer. It is especially subtle to act as if you are unfamiliar with such show bizzy things like microphones and the like. And, think about it- microphones are a mere crutch. If you have something interesting to say, people will listen to you.

Keep these points firmly fixed in your mind and you will not fail to create a lasting impression and you needn't fear to be mistaken for an entertainer.

Oh, one last point- do not eat for at least two hours prior to a performance lest you pass gas at an inopportune moment.

Yours for dignified and professional mentalism,

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Bob E.

And again one of the biggest has died (see year 2015, 2016)
I've never met him, never seen live (only on the video), but I can think for all who met him that was a great experience to chat with him.
We must be honest, we knew (we expected it, it was only a matter of time) that Bob would not live very long.
Sad but true.
This is the truth and we must accept that. Unfortunately that's how it is.

R.I.P. Bob

Tragically sad news.

Even though we only talked on here, I for one considered him a friend as he was to many.
Of his help he has given on here, then never has so much been owed to just one man.
This guy did know what he was talking about: It showed! And he gave help on all aspects of mentalism to us all.

And hey, to forget Bob's humour would be a tragedy in itself.

Thank you Bob for all you gave to me. I promise not to waste a word of it.
