I missed this news until today. What a gloomy Sunday. I'll raise a glass for you tonight.

Approachable, generous, sardonic, unconventional and wise. His ideas live on in countless acts and bits of business. Let's do our part to keep them alive.
Rest in peace, sir.

He was the reason for my love of Mentalism. I am proud to have had him as a mentor. It was an incredible journey. Finally at rest, never forgotten. Rest in peace Bob. Much love, phenomenal respect. -JS- |

I hope someone, someday (maybe two years from now) will make a book called "The 40th Step" as a compilation of Bob's best material...

I didn't have the opportunity to meet him personally. However, I spoke to him quite a bit. He was very generous. He did not mind talking with you and bestowing wisdom upon you. He didn't mind critiquing performances and giving valuable advice. I'm talking about stuff you would have to spend a ton on to find out. That was the kind of man I got to know from afar. I can recall some years back when I was going through some character changes, I can recall it was him who taught me to scale back some of my routines. For the simplistic character I was trying to convey to my audience, Mr. Cassidy taught me to how to define myself and my character through my performance. That has been some of the most valuable information I've received ever. Throughout that time, he taught me a lot about some historical performers of the past, some of whom I had never heard of. He was a walking vault of knowledge, who didn't mind opening up to either a novice or a seasoned professional. The reason why this is so impactful is because he didn't have to do it. But we all knew he cared too much about his craft and too much about the future of the art form. His passing should serve as a reminder to all of us just how good we had it and how appreciative we should be when people such as himself chimes in to offer us advice. Because those moments are never forever.

Sad to see him go at a relatively young age. He was a hard living dude and did it his way. Left a legacy. Gotta respect it all. Godspeed Bob.

This is a loss indeed. We are all indebted to Bob in the mentalism community. He left a legacy; that is certain.

Very saddened to read the news. As far as literary output and creativity is concerned, Bob was one of the greatest - ranking alongside Theo Annemann.
RIP Bob - and thank you. |

Fellow mentalists, after mourning some and thinking this through. now that we cannot change Bob's departure, let us, those of us that will,
do the best, wildest and most mind blowing mentalism that we can. while remembering Bob's panache, his enthusiasm. that is perhaps what he would have wanted for those he left behind. Bob, thanks, thanks so much. you brought it all together for many of us, when others could not, you did. always grateful!!! |
