Well folks. you all have traveled the journey with me and so it is only fair that I tell you guys the exciting news first.

IT'S HERE: I am happy to announce that my newest book, "FESTIVAL MAGIC", is finished and is NOW available at http://www.kpmagicproducts.com/Festival_Magic.html. This 112pg book is filled with the most up to date information on how anyone can work and succeed in the festival and fair markets. I am really blessed and grateful to so many folks over 10 years who have helped make this book a reality.

Thanks to SO many of you. You guys have been amazing to me and I hope we will continue the discussion here on festivals and fairs. Thanks for allowing me to let my "family" know about this.

I owe a lot to each of you.

Kyle

Another book on festivals with tents on the cover and an almost identical title/sub-title. Very creative.

I assume you are referring to Keith's book from 2005 http://www.howtobookfestivals.com . It seems to me there is room for more than one book that discusses this type of market and Kyle's title suggests that his offering is focused only on the festival market. Looking at both book covers only suggests to me that they are addressing somewhat similar markets, not copy cat.

CDS: What are you suggesting? This book was started back in 2003 - 2004 and was designed to be attractive to those who are intersted in the market. I have not read any other books on subject for a reason. This book is based on my experience with festivals and fairs for over 25+ years of doing it as a niche market and I guarantee there is information in here you will NOT find anywhere else. That is my committment to the magic community and the reason why I spent 10 years writing it. My table of content alone would show just how much is in this book and what I talk about and cover off on. Charlie is right in that this is focused mainly of the festival market only.

Mike: thank you my friend. As you read, let me know if you have any questions at all. I would be happy to answer them for you. also post a review here as you do read so folks can really see I am terlling the truth with what I am saying.

Hi Kyle -

I know that you are a PT pro. And I know that you do shows for other markets besides festivals.

How many festival show dates do you work in a year?

Congrats Kyle on your release. I'm well aware of what it takes to embark on such a project and a ten year effort coming to fruition is really both exciting and an accomplishment.

It's funny, when you release things that are based on your experience people may ridicule you for it, and yet on the other hand they may tend to compare it to others things already released. The real point is it doesn't matter if any of the material has been previously released by others, what matters is it's your perspective, your experienced based on what you're doing/have done and what's worked for you. Even if there was some material that was previously released, if that was part of your journey and experience that would be expected as part of anyone's journey.

Good for you, and I wish you the best of luck with this release.

This book may also allow some to see the differences in types of festivals performances and the often lumped together "fair & festival market", which in reality are two separate things, yet often are seen as one and the same.

I look forward to your positive reviews.

I will preface this by saying Keith is a very close friend of mine.

Having said that let me say this. Having another book on the subject that deals more with part time festival work is not bad. If Kyle was going to directly rip off the publication he would have done it many years ago.

Keith's book is still a great buy. I do not think this is even suggested as an alternative but as another offering. If you want to try that market both will probably be of some great value.

I have not read Kyle's book so I will not offer insight. I know he is thourough.

Good luck with it.

Not only has Kyle worked this market for a couple of years, he has spent a lot of time researching it. I’m sure the book will be based on more than just his experience alone. The main part of many good books are based on research. If it’s a good idea, it’s a good idea.

Kyle, I know several that’s waiting on the book, so get your butt in gear and get it done.

Tom

Kyle seems like only yesterday I made that post, but that was more than 9 years ago. Smile

Don't you wish you had a nickel for every time somebody said, "when will the book be ready?" LOL

But seriously, I know you have worked hard on this and it's good to see that your hard work has paid off.

Congratulations on the success.

Donald: On average between 15-20 pemding my schedule. It may not seem like a lot, but as you stated, I am a part time performer as I am very lucky and very grateful to be also an artist and I just could not do graphic design without doing magic too. I get the best of both worlds.

MindPro: thank you so much. I appreciate it. it has been 10 years in the works and I am so happy to finally get it done the wya I wanted it to be done. The reviews are already coming in and I could not be happier. I will post a few if anyone would like.

Danny: Thank you my friend. Keith and I have nothing against each other but friendship and admiration. Keith actually had chimed in on this thread and offered some great insite a while back. You are correct in that this book focuses more on the festival market then anything else. To your point, I started writing this back in 2002-2003. I saw keiths book come out right when I planned on releasingh mine. Out of respect, I waited and palced my book on hold. I just thought it would not be fair to have 2 out at the same time. so I shelefed it and waited for 9 years to pass before finishing my book and releasing it to the community.

I purposely did not and have not read keith's book. I am sure it is good. I did not read it because I did not want to be influenced in any way, shape or form. I wanted this book to be totally 100% my thoughts on the subject of working festivals.

Thank you all. I am so happy with things so far. It has been an amazing journey. 10 years and it is finally done. 112+ pages and I am happy to see it completed that it too may help others.

I just bought the book as well. I too believe their is value in learning from someone who approaches this market as a part time venture, because I do likewise. I am looking for opportunities to review a through approach from an experienced worker. I have greatly benefitted from Kyle's Scout Book and I am confident this book will provide value as well.

Imagine only one book on the subject of card magic, mentalism, and on and on.

Now that being said they shouldn't all look the same so as to confuse the purchaser.

Thanks Danny. I appreciate it.

The cover art I designed myself as I am a graphic designer. I made sure it looks nothing at all like Keith;s book. It is natural for there to be an element of a festival tent due to the nature of the topic at hand. I just created and designed mine to look vastly different in style. Thanks though. Best to you. =)

BTW, lest someone try to "read" something into my earlier question about the number of festival shows Kyle does in a year, there was no hidden message behind it. I was just curious.

I bought Kyle's book within a few hours of him announcing it on Facebook.

Thank you, Donald. It is much appreciated my friend. I am very lucky and greatful I get to do what I get to do and to share it with my wife. This book was such a long time in the works and is really a goal I had wanted to accomplish for years. So happy that I achieved it.

Kyle -

I've written a couple of books in the past, and they are hard work. Sometimes the information flows, and sometimes you just have to work at it.

This summer I've been invited to lecture at the KIDabra Conference in Tennessee, and I'll be publishing lecture notes / a book for that. So, that will be my newest magic book.

Donald: it is a lot of work for sure. that is why I spent 10 years on this one. I wanted it to be the way it needed to be. I wanted it complete and filled with every inormation I could give and I am happy with the results.

If you need any help with easy ways to self-publish, let me know.

Thanks for the offer, Kyle.

I have a vision for my upcoming book, which includes binding some actual promotional samples into the book. So, it will be a hard copy book, and not an ebook. It also won't be available as print on demand, because of the samples I'm including. (Think along the lines of Sammy Smith's "Sell Your Act With..." series of books.)

After all, my goal will be to sell these at my lecture. Some might be available afterwards, if I don't sell out at KIDabra.
