Pocket Management during a walk around gig would be great, especially when considering your huge 'A' material in play

Why did you leave in the first place??? The guy you used to do the review with has set himself up as the expert magic trick man and talks over everyone else during the review. People that are interested in magic leave because more and more magicians don't want to help others and all have Superior attitudes.

I left the WPR as I wanted to focus on my life outside of the magic community. I had goals I wanted to achieve and can couldn't focus while I was spending so much time doing other stuff. I couldn't have achieved what I have in the last four years if I was still on the WPR.

Now however I have more time which is why I'm doing this lecture. Dave Penn is a very knowledgable magician and knows more than most. He can speak over people sometimes but don't let that worry you!

Welcome back, Craig.
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death my right to say "scr*w you" if you persist. [Voltaire Smile]

Thanks for all your kind words guys.

I have taken all your thoughts on board and submitted my set list to Murphy's. I'm going to address certain performing conditions and routines that work in those conditions. It will allow me to talk about everything everyone has asked via the use of tricks. Then we can discuss marketing in the Q&A section. Is there anything in particular people want to know from a marketing POV.

Thanks again for your feedback. It is much appreciated.

Craig.

Craig,

The suggestions above are all great, IMHO. One additional request I have (if you could squeeze it in) would be any updates to how you are using Chop, or ideas that others have brought to your attention as to how they are using Chop, that you think are worth sharing.

At any rate welcome back, and I am looking forward to this!

Welcome back Craig - I truly appreciate your honesty and candor, and it seems like your time away from magic served you well. It takes a lot of guts to admit you were ever wrong, and it is an ability that many have never learned how to do. I am looking forward to your lecture, and all of the insightful information you will be offering.

"So I mentioned yesterday I'm doing a few projects for various magic companies. One of which is an At The Table Lecture for Murphy's.

My question is what would you guys like to see. If you a magician what would float your boat?

Material I have published in the past
Unpublished material I've never shared
Workers or magic for magicians
Marketing advice on how to get more gigs and grow a large company
Close Up
Stage
Kids routines
Coins / cards.

Help me plan the lecture YOU guys want to see!

I'm open to all ideas as long as you don't tell me to explain RED!!

Cheers guys."

First of all it's great to see you back, with regards to the lecture I would like to see a mixture of real world practical magic for both close up and parlor ie coins, cards ropes etc

He wouldn't be able to do that as Murray Mint is Micheal Murray's effect, however if you own Murray Mint it's not hard to work out the handling that Craig uses.

Man. I'm a marketing geek. I use Infusionsoft to run all my companies and I've created campaigns and funnels that would make your eyes bleed.

However there are probably less than 50 magicians in the whole world that would find talking about Infusionsoft interesting. There is no way Murphy's will let me say the words Infusionsoft let alone talk about it (and I can't blame them!).

I did a two hour marketing talk a few weeks ago for SMEs which focused on Infusionsoft and funnel building. If it was recorded I'll get you a copy if I can.

Correct. And I'm not messing up again.

I'll film a tutorial of my handling and upload it into the Murray Mint FB group. That way everyone wins. I'll sort it tomorrow in the office that at I can get one of the guys to hold a camera for me!!

Maybe not interesting, but I think there are enough that would find it useful. Still not enough for Murphy's to want you to talk about it, but I'd also be interested.

It would be good to see you present/teach a short set for both strolling and tables. People may not want to learn every trick, but this way you can demonstrate your thoughts on approach, flow and finishing.

Thanks

What Puggo said goes for me as well. Love to get some of these types of insights, based on your experience.

I used to review a lot of Craig's work and one thing I respect is that the guy has some seriously fine chops and a very creative brain!! 'Attack of the Bag' and 'Flipped Out' are two BRILLIANT explorations of a couple of common coin G's we all have and are choc FULL of excellent creative material. Great to see you back and enjoying your place in magic again Craig, you have my attention.

Hey Craig, I commend your attitude. It's takes a strong person to apologize and own whatever mistakes he has made; and then it's on us to forgive and move on. I mean, we're talking magic tricks here, no lives were endangered.

Personally, you never offended me in the slightest and you always seemed like a good guy. I haven't watched WPR much since you left.
I have an ATT subscription so I look forward to your lecture. Best of luck and don't be a stranger here. You have a lot to offer the magic community.

52 cards, 52 possibilities! Smile
(Thanks, I am now completely unable to do a card trick without saying that as hard as I try not to)

First time I've been on the Café in ages!

Hello everyone! This is simply an At The Table Lecture - nothing too exciting.

I've been away from the magic community for several years now. I made A LOT of mistakes and felt it would be better for everyone concerned if I just left.

These last few years I've focused on my family and my various business interests. It's allowed me to focus on what's important. It got to a point towards the end where I was releasing routines just because it was expected not because they were any good. I did stuff because I thought I wanted to be famous in the magic community.

I needed to get away and I am a different person now. My focus now is not magic to be honest. In fact I do more speaking now than magic. However magic has always been my first love and I will always love it.

When I was asked to do an At The Table Lecture I jumped at the chance.

Here's the thing. If I have ever offended you I am sorry. If I have ever done anything that annoyed you I am sorry. Being away from magicians made me realise magic is a community and I would like to be a part of that even if it is in a small reduced way.

I hope you enjoy the lecture. If there is anything in particular you want me to do (marketing, stage, close up whatever) just let me know.

Just don't ask me to explain Red!

Thanks

Craig.

Hi,yeah I'm totaly into the business side of it now so more about that mate, marketing stuff and agency tips and thinks like that

Craig, what is your opinion on business budgeting?

If you have a fixed budget what proportion would you recommend spending on new tricks (assuming you have been a magician for a while so already have a pretty good arsenal) vs promotional material/networking clubs/wedding fairs and that kind of thing?
