Hi, I'm from Poland. I want to buy Half Dollar Shell and Flipper. I'm a student so I can't afford to buy Lassen's or Schoolcraft Gaffs. I want to buy coins for >70 USD. There are options that I found:
- Roy Kueppers's gaffs on Penguin Magic (65 USD) - Tango gaffs (74 USD) - Eric Jone's (on his site) gaffs (70 USD + shipping) Plese tell me which you would buy. Which are the best and why. Maybe you can suggest me something different and better? |

I'm not sure about new tango but in the past Johnson historically has been a better choice. Clad shell 35. Silver 70. You can buy direct.

Johnson's gaffs costs 70 UDS on site. The problem is that shipping to Poland (estimated by Johnson site) is 54 USD !!! I would rather buy it by penguin. Here is an option: PENGUIN FLAT-PACK. It allows me to safe 50 USD

I would go with Johnson also, but one thing you need to do is check their shipping price for out of US. I have found it to be very high! They lost serveral sales from me because it it! Oh, I am Australia by the way. Best of luck on finding what you want

Have to agree with you guys: Johnson's shipping charges have cost them my business on a few occasions, but then again there are some real deals: Hopping Halves, even with the high mailing fees. Otoh,, paying $35 for a good quality flipper is a steal, BUT having to cough up $34 more for shipping to Canada... kinda takes the wind out of my sales (pun intended).

Johnson shipping has always been at cost. Eric Jones I wouldn;t buy from his website. It is like he has stopped checking it. I tried to order something last years and after two months had to file a paypal claim. Nothing against Eric but he should take the shop down if he is not even going to respond to emails from someone who tried to buy from him or from paypal. Tango stuff is hit and miss really. I have their set of CSB and a johnson set of CSB. Both the same price but the Johnson one is far and away a better quality set. I have have a Johnson folding and a Tango folding and they are almost the same quality. Shells? Johnson has better. The reason Penguin can send stuff as cheap as it does is volume. Johnson is a small volume producer, so they do not get the break on shipping like the larger magic sellers. Also what is great about Johnson is they will do custom orders as well. You even get a discount if you send them the coins.

I would try calling Johnson and ask them if there is a way they can make shipping work for you. Otherwise, find a US friend who will simply ship them to you in a manner acceptable to you, then you can pay Johnson as little asthe 7 dollar shipping rate.

1. Does anyone have any experience with Roy Kueppers's gaffs? Any opinions?
2. I found Johnson's gaffs on page: "Stevens Magic". They estimated my shipping. It is 15 UDS- quite nice. Has anybody bought something from it? Is it reliable? Can I buy Johnson gaffs from this site and will they be original? |

Stevens is very reputable. It's been a while from me but have bought much in the past. They have been around for a very long time now

Do not forget the magic warehouse I have had nothing but good results with these people. they are willing to talk with you and advise you and their shipping is always reasonable.

Stevens Magic is trustworthy and they ship all over the world. They can certainly help you with your gaff coin needs.

Thanks countrymaven,
I bought gaffs on Magic Warehouse. Both shipping and price were lower than on Stevens Magic |

I just ordered a Johnson HH set from Stevens since they showed it in stock and the Johnson site is wiped out on the HH set currently. Thanks for mentioning them!

The Johnson Hopping Half set is probably the best coin set for the money. Lots you can do at a good price.
If their shipping is too high (Johnson's), then either Penguin or Stevens would be a good choice. Both provide excellent customer service. Hudson |

Yeah, I'm excited to get it! I haven't done much magic for a long time, but am feeling the burn to get back at it and pick one of my kids (not sure who is showing the most interest yet) and bring them along in it as something fun we can do together and let them stump their siblings and friends (no way are we giving out ANY secrets!!!).
Coin magic has always fascinated me as a really interesting use of sleight and gaffs. And coins are just so cool! This will be a great set for us to start coming up with basic stuff and then I'll keep reading Lassen's blog and get ready to pick up some old Walkers as they're my favs! |

Just want to throw my twork cents in about Erics site. I ordered a product from him and it took about two months to have it ahipped. He is very busy and as such isn't able to put the time into his business that it needs. After he finally shipped he did call me to apologize for the inconvenience. He's a really nice guy but you wouldn't order from him again
