I found these shells what do you guys think of them. How do they handle? http://www.chefanton.com/entertain/black_fox_shell_sets.htm

It depends on how you intend to use them. If you are presenting it as an effect, it brings some interesting patter possibilities with it. Bob Sheets touches on this in his video (Absolutely Nuts)
If you are working it as a swindle, you might want to look at other sets, as these are a little more slippery in the fingers than most (at least in mine) |

I have them, and think they handle nicely (even better with School for Scoundrel's Perfect Pea). They sure have possibilities for Novel & Humorous presentation!
As mentioned above, if you go for the "streetwise hustler/conman-image", go with walnuts, bottlecaps etc. Bjørn

Are the peas any good that come with it? What are some other shell recommendations? Thank you

Hocus Pocus has some nice ones pretty close to that. And they are cheaper.

People recognize the walnut shells not sure how a
beetle shell would go over if giving a demo of the three shell game. I'd go with regular shells. |

The peas that come with the beetles worked well, but the "Perfect Peas" are, well... Perfect...

The Perfect Peas are great to work with, and much more visible to a spectator/mark than the smaller ones that ship with the Black Fox Shells.
You _Do_ want your victims to be sure they know where it's hiding, no? As for other shell recommendations, I've found Black Fox's turtle shells easier for me to handle than the scarabs. My personal favorites? Whit's Street Shells; and then when they believe the game might be less than an honest game of chance, I pull out Andrew's La Maggiores to give them a better chance to see the action. What could be more fair? ;-) |
