Hi!
My reply comes a bit late, but ive just realized about this post, and all the passion in the replies Smile
Well... I'm the creator of the technology behind Clonk. You wont believe me if I say that Clonk is great. Instead I will say that is now possible to create an effect that was not possible before. Good? Bad? Worth it?... well.. you choose.
Thanks for all the ones that own one, and also the ones that don't own it, but still think it rocks Smile

I will say that I don't agree that a trick that is a hundred years old will build the same reaction now than before. Not even the best MD ever created would work the same. Kids and adults are now over exposed to technology and internet, knowledge of the working principles of physics, magic, hidden arts, etc... its not the same. People now search for stronger effects, wiser methods, smarter deceptions. We can complain about where the world is going, and that all past times were better, and sit to wait and see if the audience start thinking as they did decades ago. If magic happens inside their head, but their head its not the same, we can not do the same to obtain the same reaction. Instead I prefer to adapt to current times. But that's my decision, and that's why I create magic effects. Anyone can still do the original MD, and get great reactions, no doubt about that. But I'm sure that if we could do an experiment showing the same routine with and without Clonk, audience will always choose the Clonk routine was better.

I did not know they did not get the 1st model right, so they made a 2nd model, and that must have had problems, because there is a version 3 now. I know I read a number of comments on the Café, that many were not satisfied and had problems with the 1st model. Do it are they building in, automatic failures to keep the cash flowing?

This are meaningless guesses. There is no "version number" in the name. The 3 is in fact not a 3, but a "cubed". Because in Spanish "cubed" is also a way of saying "to the bucket"... Pun intended would be "Clonk to the bucket", or "Clonk al cubo" in Spanish. The 3 also stands for the 3 coins it can hold and release.
Thanks for you positive thoughts Smile Its not about cash flow. Its possible that someone could have problems with their unit, and those were or should be replaced. Something unavoidable when you sold thousands of units.

You have created a PROP. The EFFECT happens in the MINDS of the spectators.

Yo are entitled to your OPINION. --and, I'm entitled to mine,

I'm a showman, and, I know that "magic" is 5% sleight of hand technique, 5% perceptual illusion, 5% esoteric principles of science, and, about 85% PSYCHOLOGY. I depend on PSYCHOLOGY, SLEIGHT OF HAND SKILL, PERCEPTUAL ILLUSION, AND ESOTERIC SCIENCE PRINCIPLES, not MECHANICAL GIMMICKS, to create a magical EFFECT. AND, I DO ENTERTAIN THEM!

Yes, "Yo" are entitled to your OPINION, but then saying you "know" this to be so....ever heard the one about the ox & the moron?

Since my last circus tent post I've found 2 new ways to use this gimmick. Love it! Even had someone after the fringe show specifically mention that they'd seen the coin-pail thingy (their words) before but that was wild!
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.
