Here is a brand-new offering by a true out-of-the-box thinker Tom Phoenix. This is a great new peek utility for card workers and mentalists alike.
Imagine this: - You turn your back - They shuffle the deck - They select one card - They replace it reversed in the deck - They shuffle again - You turn to face them, put the cards in the box, and you read their mind. The peek can be attained immediately, or after deck has been in the box for a couple minutes - it's up to you. Sneaky little device that works with a regular deck. It actually fooled me the first time I saw it. Admittedly, I'm no expert when it comes to such 'devices' but I wonder if/why nobody has thought of this before?
Much simpler in construction than Larry Becker's which I like but not very forgiving anglewise. If you can live with that limitation you'll sure be happy with the purchase!

I received a review copy of this.
The instructional video is direct and straight to the point. The construction of the device is well covered. While the peek is angly, if viewed from the back and sides, but most peeks are. By choreographing things properly, the peek is invisible. There are some considerations to the deck and its condition. Suffice it to say, one needs to test the peek device and the deck very well before performing with it. Overall, this is a solid peek and when couple with proper choreography and misdirection, it is very disarming. The beauty of it is that the peek happens at the most innocent point and nothing is looks out of place when it is over. Great work Tom! |

I just finished watching the review copy of the video link. It is a very clever application of a well known principle. You do have to alter a card box, which would take about 10-15 minutes. It would be great to use in any situation where you need to secretly obtain the value of a freely selected card. The use of an invisible deck with this was a terrific suggested idea. I was very pleased with this and recommend it if you do mind a little and easy arts and crafts. You can use any deck of cards. I really like this. Very clever and sneaky.

I received a review copy of the video.
Pretty clever stuff, considering how completely baffled I was by the original performance video! The video spends a comfortable 18 minutes or so going over the effect and performance, including the build. The construction is explained in clear detail, and I look forward to giving this one a shot. This one is sneaky and - if the angles are right - should be a real fooler. As we all know peeks can be risky, and I think it is ALWAYS good to have a fairly new way to accomplish this. |

I have to admit I was fooled when I saw the demo as well. Been a card guy for a long time too. Great explanation video. He offers a few variations on the peek but I think the best one is leaving the card face down from a pure logistics point of view. I know he has a justification for the reversed card by incorporating the ID which some will like others maybe not. Was not a fan of the cellophane idea which allows the spectator to place deck in box. Only to remove cellophane later. I found it cumbersome and unmotivated and even Tom mentions that its not ideal but includes it as an option.
To close I must say its very generous of Tom to share this with us and he is man of details. He has created a great device for this peek and in the right situation (angles) it will fly by laymen and I think most magicians. I think there is a great physiological moment, as a spectator ,that occurs when the cards are placed in the box. They let their guard down knowing the cards are now "isolated" and the heat is off at the exact same time you get the peek. Great thinking Tom!! |

Wow, glad everyone enjoyed it!
A little clarification on the angles: you only need 1/2 inch worth of space to peek - everyone who has this will know what I'm talking about. Because of how the box is held and the moment at which the peek is obtained, the angles shouldn't be an issue, unless you have people watching over your shoulder. Also, I didn't mention this in the explanation, but I told someone through a PM: you don't need to get the peek right away. You could just as easily put the cards in the box and leave it on the table for a couple minutes, and then peek it as you put it into your pocket later. |

Very true, any time delay is most devious with this kind of move!

Yes, this is great. The peek is so natural, I had a really difficult time seeing it, even after multiple viewings of the demo. Cannot say much more than has already been said, except, will definitely find a use for this great utility. The only issue I see, is that you may not want specs directly behind you, so a bit angly.
Tom, thanks for coming up with this, it's very clever. |

I was very fortunate to receive a review copy.
I have already bought several of Tom's releases and with each, I have admired his 'out of the box' thinking as well as clever ruses. And this new peek device - Sierpinski's Peek - is very deceptive and clean. In the video explanation, Tom explains the principles in play and several ways to present. Watching it, I smiled several times at just how cleanly the peek is obtained. However, buyers of this effect do need to be aware that there is some 'craft' work to do beforehand. Nothing too difficult and all is clearly explained and, once done, you will be set for a long long time. I certainly like and recommend Sierpinski's Peek and, if you like what you see in the demo and don't mind some preparatory work, then this is well worth getting. Also, as a bonus, I learned quite a bit about the effectiveness of a certain card strategy and which I can see myself using in other ways. Neil |

I also got a review copy. As other reviewers have pointed out there is a one time construction of the box. Nothing difficult. Once complete it should last a long time. You can use any deck of cards but may have to do a quick something to them which is very easy and can be done right in front of your audience without suspicion.
I also agree with magicinsight that the use of the Invisible Deck is a good idea. As Tom states it gives justification for the selected card being reversed in the deck. Yes, you may have to be careful of people observing from behind you but I do think this could be overcome by keeping everything close to your body. Also, I would recommend checking out Tom's effect Rebirth. Such a cool plot with a torn and restored card. And I did not receive a review copy of Rebirth, I purchased it. RNK

Do I need sleight of hand for this peek method?
I mean, I need to put the card to a certain position (top or bottom), right? |

I received my copy and it is pretty clever but for what I normally do this is something I probably will not use. But I will say the design of the card box was new and different. It started me thinking other ways to use the gimmicked card box. The way the peek was obtained is not new but by doing it within the framework of the gimmicked box I would say is new.
Angles must be watched. I like the creative thinking but as stated earlier I do not see me doing a peek this way but the thinking is very clever. Now as far as using the gimmicked box that has me thinking of other ways to use the box.

In the next couple days, I'll be releasing an update on this gimmick, which does the same thing: the spectator takes the cards out of the box, selects one, puts it back, replaces the deck in the box, and THEN you get the peek.
It's essentially the same idea, but the box can be handled by the spectator... and the method hides out in the open. Everyone who has purchased this in the past will, of course, get the update for free. Tom Phoenix |

Okie dokie, everyone who purchased this in the past has been sent the updated version: the box can be handled by the spectators, and they'll never find out the secret.

So Tom can they place the deck in the box and then I take the box to put in my pocket and steal a peek? Ad said it’s up to you but I wanted to clarify that part. Thx.
