Does anyone know what the routine is with this coin box by PAUL Diamond?

Great trick! Just be aware that the quality of Paul's brass pieces could vary from set to set.
Basic effect: A quarter or half (depending upon your set) is borrowed and signed or sticky label applied. Coin is placed into a small round brass box (somewhat similar in appearance to an Okito Box, but NOT an 0kito-type box). The lid is placed onto this box and it is given to an audience member to hold. Attention is directed to a similar box that has been in plain view 100% of the time. This box has a brass rod going from side to side securing the lid to the box. There is a hole in one end of the rod and a tiny padlock holding everything in place. Sim Sala Bim The person holding the first box is instructed to remove the lid and dump the contents onto the table. Instead of the expected marked coin, a tiny key falls from the box. The person who loaned the coin is asked to take the tiny key and open the padlock on the second box. Inside this box that was securely sealed a moment ago is found the same marked coin that was placed in the first box initially! Paul did not invent this trick, but gave new life to it when he had his craftsman start building them back in the 1970's or so. Julie |
