I have read Mnemonica and Ortiz's Lessons in Card Mastery (has lots of memorized stack material), and I'm looking for something new. What are your favorite books for memorized stack material? I prefer stack-independent stuff.

Much of Mr. Aronson's work is stack independent as well as highly recommended!

Among the Aronson books I love Simply Simon and Try the Impossible. Such a pleasure to read.
Watching those electrons dance on the adiabat, from Franck-Condon to the Asymptote.

All true, but alone "Twice as Hard" (stack independent!) in "Try the Impossible" is worth to get the book. And if I would have to chose just one book then (for me) it would be "Simply Simon" which I studied at least three times the last 20 years, that fantastic it is... And I got (and read) a lot of books in my quite big library . Jan

Well, so far we've collected the following...
John Born - Seeking The Bridge Pit Hartling - In Order To Amaze Simon Aronson - Simply Simon Simon Aronson - Try The Impossible Greg Chapman - The Devil's Staircase ...to which I'd like to add two more names: Eric Richardson (especially for his books Oasis and It All Depends) and last but not least the brilliant Barrie Richardson (don't miss out on Theater of the Mind).

My copy of In Order To Amaze came in yesterday and it's great so far. "Poker Formulas" is just great, and "Sherlock" fixes all the issues I had with TNT in Mnemonica. Glad I picked it up! Looking forward to spending a lot of time with it.
Thanks for the recommendations so far! Aronson was on my list already but I hadn't seen the Chapman and Born books. I'll have to check those out! |

You can find several strong memdeck effects in Darwin Ortiz book Scams & Fantasies with cards.

I wanted to comment on "In Order to Amaze" which I just received in the mail. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but the production values of the book show such a commitment to quality. The pages are of heavy weight paper and are sewn in rather than glued. There is a built-in bookmark and the font and photos are a pleasure to view. I appreciate Pit's commitment to quality on this project. I expect the material to be of high quality considering all the work he put in on the volume's physical appearance.

Top 5 (in no order):
In Order to Amaze (Hartling) Try the Impossible (Aronson) Lessons in Card Mastery (Ortiz) Simply Simon (Aronson) Bound to Please (Aronson) I assume everyone has or knows about Mnemonica so as to not bother including it in the list. It's the foundation! I would also recommend getting Workers 5 from Michael Close. |

You can't miss The invisible card in Try the impossible by Simon Aronson.
I think all agree that it is the one of best card miracles. |
