Hahaha, I was just thinking of how hilarious Get Fuzzy is!!
That cat and dog man, soooo funny. Although nothing could ever top the famous Calvin and Hobbes (r.i.p.) Chris |

I've read Get Fuzzys in the Sunday Tribune and I've never liked it very much. I'm more of a Peanuts, For Better or For Worse, and some other ones are pretty good.

Ooooohhhhh boy! As a former struggling cartoonist, I went through the ringer with United Faetures Syndicate back in 97. Getting a strip syndicated is harder than pulling the ears off a kicking pig. And 80% of the strips out there are garbage! Then, the papers do even more damage by shrinking strip space. That's one of the many reasons Watterson quit doing Calvin & Hobbes (how I miss you guys!).
Over the past few years many new strips have come out, most of them rip offs of something that has already been done. Get Fuzzy, was one of them. The syndicates saw this strip as a way to cater to former Garfield readers (Garfield has been on a downward spiral for years, and hasn't actually been written or drawn by Jim Davis since the late 80's), but they never expected Get Fuzzy to develop such a distinct feel. Its dry, sarcastic sense of humor greatly outshined the expectations of the syndicate. I say that Get Fuzzy is one of the very few strips that have what it takes to go down in strip history along with the likes of Calvin & Hobbes and Far Side. More good strips! Less filler! (Once you get me started on comics, I can't shut up! ARGH!) |

I'm a little disappointed that Ody is a real dog, though. He should be animated like Garfield is. We must see his awesome long neck and flappy ears! <sigh> |

Get Fuzzy IS #1 in my book!!!!! Last year they came out with a Day-to-day calander and I get to read the strips 365 days a year, I have this years too, I have an official Satchel and Bucky watch (looks like Satchel's) I even have a "bucky cat" even though his name is "Oscar."
MAN, I never thought I'd be a fandom geek, this post made me realize it for the first time

I always thought it was odd that Satchel wore a watch. Satchel rocks!
I think the Garfield movie is too little too late. That cat is dead. |

There was that series were Satch. lost his watch and Rob bought him that digital one, I thought they were going to have to "put poor Sactch. down" cause he was catatonic over the thing.
It was funnier when Bucky lost his tooth. The watch is ElCheapo but it has a picture of Buck and Stach on the face.

Firedice, I will have to disagree with you the Garfield issue. I still read it with as much joy as I ever did. I don't wish to start a discussion here. Let's just agree to disagree.

LOL! You got a deal, Samuel! The truth is, I'm just happy that people still enjoy the comics, whether it's a comic I like or not. There was a time when I thouroughly enjoyed Garfield.

Firedice, DUDE!! I have a standing subscription for Liberty Meadows with my comic book store. I have been reading Cho's story about those crazy kids since the first issue came out. Have you checked out University 2? If not RUN, do not walk, to your nearest comic retailer and get it. If they don't have it, PM me and I will help you find a place that does.

Actually, I met Frank Cho years ago at the University of Maryland when he was putting out the first University 2 collection. Who knew he would make it so big? Well, I did, for one.
