I love these sand to wand and wand to sand tricks, but I can't seem to find any info on where to learn them. The tricks I am talking about are at 0:53 and 1:19 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOojiRaW......6&t=309s
If anyone knows where to buy those tricks, or of any books or video lessons that explain them, I would love for someone to point me in the right direction. |

This is real magic, even for magicians.

I'm not a musician! But, to me, music must be heard.
The written forms, digital forms, MIDI files, etc. IMO, might be considered to be, the "TRICKS". I am certainly aware that "allegories always limp"!

He may have on these very pages said, "I really like those salt pours that last a lot longer than you can do with a TT, does anyone know where I can buy that trick, or any books or video lessons explaining it?" And then perhaps someone else directed him to the Levent Long Salt Pour rather than giving him a prescriptivist lecture on the semantics of the word 'trick'" Such inquiries are part of the STUDY portion of TIME, STUDY, and P R A C T I C E. |

Well, at first, I thought you were a troll, looking for the secret of a trick. You have only 1 post (NOW, you have several!)
Yes, he probably did inquire about salt pours. (Levent BTW, is not the only one who did/does the salt pour.) My "prescriptive lecture on the semantics of a TRICK", is, I readily admit, about as simple as I can make it.

Some magicians still keep their secrets to themselves. All his effects look totally original. About the only one that is a marketed item is the pour gimmick and smoke gimmick. You have to remember, oriental magicians acts are developed over years, many times I have looked up an oriental magician, and found video of him doing the same act as an adolescent, and when he is in his 20's he is winning contest. For me, the ring to dust was the most magical piece he did. From the handling, I would say he used the Joe Porper Long Salt Pour. http://illusion.works/product/wilsonporper-salt-pour/ |

I agree, Bill! The "ring to dust" was absolutely beautiful.
His "wand and sand stuff", was a close "second", for me. As you and I, well know, however, there isn't much of a market, these days, for 8 minute acts. Well, maybe in Asia. I always liked Roy Benson's salt bit! Jay told me that Roy would get "bored" with the salt, and would start writing his name on the floor with the salt! I liked the salt pour, years ago. It certainly wasn't difficult, but, I just couldn't seem to SELL it!

I doubt that you'll ever find it in TENYO'S "catalog". It is definitely NOT for klutzes!
As the late Neil Foster told the late Denny Loomis, who had worked out a DOUBLE (immediately repeatable silk thru mike stand, with no additional "moves"): "Denny! DON'T tip that! It's TOO GOOD!" I think it was the late Cleve Haubold ("Van Cleve")who did an IMPOSSIBLE C&R Rope, at Abbott's, one year. Cleve was almost always, about 2 feet ahead of many of us. He used the black art principle, and FOOLED a whole bunch of knowledgeable magicians!

He is from Korea, so you can hop on a plane, and go see him, offer him huge sums of money, and he may just teach you his effect of want to dust, or whatever that substance is, as it looks toxic to me. Hopefully, he lives in South Korea. |

I had the chance to perform in 2 shows with Kim Young-Min and I'd say that there is no point for him to release his effects from a practical standpoint. I shared a dressing room with him and Hector Mancha and man, the setup for his act was like 2-4 hours (not including lighting and audio testing).
I'd dare to say that almost all of his effects/gimmicks are original to him or build by him/for him. As for the wand to sand, I think it is quite easy to figure out on your own (or perform a effect that looks very similar) with already available gimmicks. RJH |

Young-Min Kim appeared on Masters of Illusion last night on the CW Television Network. I guess do to different lighting, it was possible to figure out the method. Not necessarily easy to figure out how it was exactly accomplished.
