I have developed a little routine that involves the spectator thinking of any card in the pack, which is a free choice, I then pull out a deck of cards and mix them up face down on the table in a random fashion, getting the spectator to help also.
When this is all done I get them to place their finger on a card that 'feels' right to them.. All the rest are gathered up and put away, when they turn over the card with their finger on it is their card. Are there any resources to similar effects so that I may research and develop this idea? |

Do you MEAN, "actually I have no bloody idea how I can achieve this I need help"
you sneaky man.......... It rings bells of the 1 up principle....but using for only 1 card and where the spectator does not even name out alowed the card makes this entirely different |

There is an interesting routine on the Jon Tremaine Close Up Mentalism video in which he reveals a spectator's card by ribbon spreading the deck on the table nad having the spec push any card out of the spread. Tremaine then turns over this card to reveal it is the spec's named card.
It involves a switch and is not as hands off as what you are proposing, but it may be worth a look. So, how ya gonna do it?? Sandy |

Easy, if the deck is pulled out AFTER the card is chosen then pull out a one way force deck. Of course you would need 52 decks stashed on your person....

Maybe a deck of cards, and a card index would work.
You bring forth the deck, shuffle it... or let one spectator do the honor. Put the deck back in your jacket pocket. Ask for a freely selected card. After it's been selected, bring it out from the pocket (back towards the audience). Peo

As "All the rest are gathered up and put away," I would locate the card they named then do a switch with the chosen card.
If you done that with a full deck I would find it hard to believe that you could influence me to be that accurate, or my mind could be that accurate etc and the spreading out of the cards and gathering them in would be a little tedious. As a spectator I would be more inclined to think card trick. What about doing it with say 6 - 12 cards, that way you are taking away the idea of using a deck of cards and they are more like individual choices rather than a 'pack' of cards, I feel this removes the idea of card tricks a little. just a thought. Could you maybe tell us a little more about the effect you are looking for, what explanation will you give for this happening, was it their intuition? or did you psychologically make them pick that card etc coming up with the mechanics for this shouldnt be hard at all, it depends on the effect you wish to achieve. Good Luck DB

Dario's idea might work with the mexican turnover...
What about using the spread cull "This is an ordinary deck" (spreading face up) I do a trick like that. It usually has a good reaction. |

Card index does indeed work well here. I am working this so that once the card is touched by the spectator it is never handled again by myself.
I am ironing out some of the bumps and major issues with it slowly I like the idea of doing it with only a handful of cards pulled from the deck, would it be as strong? |

I think doing it with a whole deck is too strong, do you really expect them to believe they were able to select it from 52 cards. I think doing it from a selection of maybe 10 would be a lot more believable. If you do it with a deck it is a deck, if you do it with a few cards it is a selection of choices.
It is almost 2 different effects, if you are looking for a miracle, perhaps as a closer, do it with a whole deck. Or if you are looking to demonstrate the power of the mind to intuitively sense the right selection do it with a few cards. I would be more inclined to do it with a few cards, because you would get to play around with them more, give them 5 seconds to change their mind, then ask them to turn over all the other cards except 2, then give them another chance to change their mind etc Actually, you could do it with a whole deck, spread the cards out like you said, then split them into 2 sides and ask them to pick one, then do it again so you will be left with around 13 cards, then maybe do it one more time and ask them to make the selection. That way you get the best of both and you can build the tension all the way through. It is still a miracle, but it is concevable they could be influenced or just get lucky and make the right decisions down to the final pile. Instead of it being 52 to 1 it is broken down into 2 to 1 then 2 to 1 then 6 to 1 etc

I have done this before using equivoque down to one card, I just didn't like the time it took so was after a faster effect.
I like the idea of splitting the pack, then maybe just table spreading the chosen half and allowing a card to be chosen |
