Today I just thought of using folded cards as final loads. What do you guys think?
" Why, Mr. Anderson, why? Why, why do you do it? Why, why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something, for more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is, do you even know? Is it freedom or truth, perhaps peace - could it

I've thought about doing that with signed selections from before. But I think it takes away from the entire cups and balls trick and combines two types of magic that have no business together. Though if you want, try it out and let me know how it plays. I've been thinking of starting the cups and balls again and I've wanted to see how well that would play for laymen.

That is a great idea. For one thing it would be different and another the spectator would be like "Wait how did my card get there?"

Thanks for the idea

I don't think it would work too well. For one thing I think there would be too much of a delay between having the cards selected signed and then the production of them from the cups.

It would get a reaction but by the time the cards are produced and shown as the selections much of the reason or even memorey of having done anything with the cards will be gone.

To me is is just a waste of time to do that for the very lukewarm reaction it can create.

I also believe that it would be way too long between the card trick and the final production.

I suppose that if you already produced the signed card, you could produce it again, and say something like, "Boy, this looks familiar!" as opposed to revealing it for the first time, but it is still risky.

Anyhow, if you ever try it tell us the reactions you get, it would be interesting to know.

So, what you've come up with is yet ANOTHER trick that ends with you asking, "and...is that your card"? Smile

Well lets say you do a ambitious card with the signed card first then you go on to the cups and balls and produce the signed card as the finale with and you can say something like "jeez that card just keeps coming back"

I still think it would not be that strong of an effect. if you want to do a folded card effect do the card to match book card in box. etc... but don't use them as loads for the cups and balls

A (one) folded card?

How about a crumpled deck under one cup and a crumbled box under the other cup, and perhaps a houlette under the third?

nice way to set up a two trick encore: un-crumple the deck, and then the case... toss out to be shuffled etc and then... the rising cards as an closer?

Just a thought.

On cold days, perhaps mittens and a scarf? Or maybe three mittens... and let them wonder.

I have NOTHING against odd loads ... it just seems important to play these for routine value and not simple shock and awe.
...to all the coins I've dropped here
