For sound experts out there... when using two mics (IE: a handheld wireless and an earset/headset), is it better to have two wireless receivers, one for each microphone, or one dual channel receiver?

I would think two receivers makes more sense.

-redundancy= one receiver breaks, you have the other one.

It would be a good idea to get two receivers in the same band family so they are interchangeable. Any receiver could work with your headset or handheld..

Hi Christopher, basically Gothike's answers and suggestions are what I would have said. (He's very knowledgable about tech stuff).

Two receivers are vital in this case. You would also want to use what are called "Dual Diversity" receivers which basically have 2 antennas and two receivers in each housing which are sampled hundreds of times per second to select the best sound of the two. That eliminates a lot of drop outs from a single antenna system. Also you will have a different gain setting on a handheld vs. a headset mike. They would need to be EQ'd and mixed individually.
