There's the one running on Netflix right now. http://www.magiciansmovie.com

I enjoyed it, but have to say that I was stunned that the film makers released it without even the slightest mention of Jan Rouven's arrest and subsequent guilty plea. While the documentary was obviously filmed before his arrest, releasing the "documentary" without adding a documentation of Jan's case as a kind of footnote was a rather bizarre--even dishonest--decision. But check it out and decide for yourself.

I have a two volume set called "Grand Illusions - The Story of Magic"

Each DVD is in six parts, each one handling either a subject or a specific magician.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247385/

It was fascinating to watch. One thing that did bug me was Part 1, Chapter 3 The Herrmanns. Certain experts kept pronouncing the name as if it were "Herman." I have always thought it should be with a drawn out "a," "Hermahn."

But all in all, it was fascinating to watch the history of magic.
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.

"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.

I absolutely loved the BBC documentary on magic. It's old, so available all over the place. Google it and enjoy.

There's the Ricky Jay documentary.

There's also the R Paul Wilson on called Our Magic I believe.

I like the one with the junior magicians preparing for and performing in the international contest. Can't think of the name, though.
"Torture doesn't work" lol
Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

I can't think of the name either, but I saw that! You're right, it WAS excellent.

Daniel Zuckerbrot - Dai Vernon: The Spirit Of Magic
Molly Bernstein - Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries and Mentors of Ricky Jay
R. Paul Wilson - Our Magic

There's quite some stuff floating around on youtube, older BBC documentaries for example. Just insert "magic documentaries" in the search box.

I think it was called "Make Believe," and was made in 2010.

Dealt is great. It can be streamed on iTunes. You can hear my interview with the director of the film, Luke Korem (son of magician Danny Korem), here:

Dear Magicdave56
There is The Art of Magic available on VHS, PBS Home Video, 150 min, 1998
Editorial Reviews
Go beyond tricks and conjuring to the power and traditions of magic! Discover the people who created and performed the illusions, philosophies and history of this ancient art. Using fascinating archival footage and stills, go back in time to learn about the early practitioners of magic, Isaac Fawkes, Cagliostro and the Fox Sisters and the true masters of the craft who appeared at the beginning and the middle of this century: Cardini, John Nevel Maskelyne, Harry Houdini and Channing Pollock. Then thrill to the accomplishments of contemporary magicians like Siegfried and Roy, Jamy Ian Swiss, Lance Burton and more.
