There's the one running on Netflix right now. http://www.magiciansmovie.com
I enjoyed it, but have to say that I was stunned that the film makers released it without even the slightest mention of Jan Rouven's arrest and subsequent guilty plea. While the documentary was obviously filmed before his arrest, releasing the "documentary" without adding a documentation of Jan's case as a kind of footnote was a rather bizarre--even dishonest--decision. But check it out and decide for yourself. |

I have a two volume set called "Grand Illusions - The Story of Magic"
Each DVD is in six parts, each one handling either a subject or a specific magician. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247385/ It was fascinating to watch. One thing that did bug me was Part 1, Chapter 3 The Herrmanns. Certain experts kept pronouncing the name as if it were "Herman." I have always thought it should be with a drawn out "a," "Hermahn." But all in all, it was fascinating to watch the history of magic.

I absolutely loved the BBC documentary on magic. It's old, so available all over the place. Google it and enjoy.

I like the one with the junior magicians preparing for and performing in the international contest. Can't think of the name, though.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

Dealt is great. It can be streamed on iTunes. You can hear my interview with the director of the film, Luke Korem (son of magician Danny Korem), here:
