Hello,
I already introduce myself at "Our new arrival" forum but I decide to post here again because I only focus on mentalism and want to make friends here. I am a master degree student. I am from Thailand and focus on mentalism. I perform almost daily in a small coffee shop near my dorm. Most of my routines are mentalism effect. There is no "mentalism" word in Thailand. If I translate "mind-reader" to my language, it would be lame. The most "mentalism" effect on TV Show are "spoon bending" and "newspaper prediction". No one know Chris Angel, David Blaine, Darren Brown, Psychic Entertainer, Mind Readr, Mentalism, Q & A, Hypno Show. Most of the time spectators just call me Professor X(Charles Francis Xavier) because he is the closest to what I do. Basically, I have to pioneer mentalism in this country. Magicians here(Thailand) don't like mind-reading effects. Penguin Lecture and Youtube are my best friends. I am practicing and studying those kind of reading such as cold, tarot reading toward "Propless Q and A"(Paul Voodini, Pete Turner, Jerome Finley...thing). The hardest part of "Real" reading is to keep it flow and entertainment together. Yep, I've experience with intuitive hit many times more than I expected and know the potential of reading. It is so intoxicate. Also,I have a couple peeks in my disposal and looking for "prop" way to do Q and A/Envelope test/Read Multiple Minds/O** A**** to make my reputations too. My short goal is to perform on "stage" and "table hopping" within a couple months and earn from it. Before I got this account I ask a lot of things to the creators, performers via email and facebook and they are so kind and friendly. Now I am here and free to discuss with you guys! I am soooooo happy. Nice to meet you all. Thanks for reading |

Pacozaa, you brought back a wonderful memory for me. I spent some time in Thailand, over ten years ago, and at the time had no real knowledge of mentalism. However, it was in a Bangkok alley that I would witness a wonderful performance. I was walking through a touristy area and was approached by a young Indian boy, dressed in a saffron robe and turban, he couldn't have been more than 15. The boy told me that he had been initiated into a great lineage of yogis, and proceeded to produce black and white photos of a group of Indian Sadhus stating one of them was his great Guru. The boy told me he had developed powers and could read mind and tell the future, and he just needed me to step into an alleyway away from the crowd to prove these powers were real. I was definitely intrigued, also a little paranoid about what this boy was gonna do, but he simply pulled out a pen and paper and told me to think of any number and write it down, and then fold the paper up. I followed his instructions, handed him the folded paper; it seemed like he had barely touched that paper, and before I knew it he had ripped it up and divined my number. I thought that was pretty cool, he then had me think of any color, and proceeded to divine the color the same way. At the time I figured he had some color, number, statistical formula in his mind and got lucky too, but then he asked me to think of any flower. I can clearly recall thinking to myself, there's no way this kid has such an extensive knowledge of flowers that he's gonna pull this one off. I wrote daffodil, thinking that was a flower that would be uncommon across the entire Asian continent let alone Thailand, but he nailed that one too. Each time the boy had asked me to write something down he kept leading me further down the alleyway, and we had made a couple turns. Then he started pressuring me to come further down the alley to a location where he would tell me my future, he also started asking for money. I tipped the boy but declined to go further down the alley, as I was so new to the country I had this nagging feeling I may be getting myself in some kind of trouble. Anyways, long story short, I never saw that boy again and I have always regretted not going all the way down the alley. He was as good a billet worker as anyone else I've seen. In retrospect, I guess mentalism does exist in Thailand, just not in it's most common contexts. I think that's a big part of what made the boy's use of the billet that much more believable. Thailand's certainly a magical place, I hope to return one day! |

I suspect that "Fortune Teller" in TV Show used billet techniques too. Because they always "nail" a lot of convincing information in front of a camera. If You know what I mean |

Welcome to our little mentalism community. I also come from an area where there are not many performers. This place has been a wonderful resource for me. I hope it will be for you as well.

Welcome! If nobody has a picture of mentalism around you I think its something a lot of us are jealous about. You can push the art in EVERY direction you want without getting compared to Derren, Uri or the psychic next door. The most important thing is that I feel that you love Mentalism!

Hello Pacozaa, you ave already shown me your honest desire for friendship and comradely in pm. See you round the board and I look forward to more sharing of ideas together
A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a foolish man can learn from a wise answer.
Attributing negativity to a topic or post doesn't make the topic or post negative, it shines a light on the negativity of the person or persons, making the attributions. BEWARE these Debbie downers and anything they say. They simply lack the self esteem or good will, to be positive or productive. Your belief in self, is more important and is all that matters, for your success to be glorious. |
