Got intrigued after email for ellusionist, ended up taking a punt for $9 to see how the comments in this thread compared.
I noticed the advert for this on various sites is slightly different (as is the price) So my thoughts/review will be with the version ellusionist is selling as digital download They state "With Mark Elsdon's creation you can hand a deck to someone, they shuffle, they cut and you've accurately predicted their card. 100% of the time. You touch nothing. All the cards are different, the deck can be inspected and it's instantly repeatable. ... Now you can't say that about many mindblowing card tricks can you? - No apps - No special deck - You touch nothing... That's how clean ALL magic shoud look. In this download Mark takes you step-by-s... nah just kidding. This trick is ridiculously easy and within seconds of Mark's explanation you'll be able to perform this with YOUR deck." I noticed on other sites it states the reveal is done via facebook but this is really not necessary (I don't see the need any way!) Watched the 17:21 long video. I did a set up (I say " A set up" as I chose to do it slightly different for how I would reveal my prediction) Grabbed my cards, my phone and called for the wife and immediately left her speechless as to how I could of predicted the outcome without "setting anything up" as I never touched the cards or the phone. I let her remove the cards from the box, check they were all different and that everything seems fair. She gave them a shuffle, gave them a cut. I asked her to check my phone to the text message I was about to send her and sure enough it had “I hope you picked the 4 of Hearts” when she turns over the card she freely selected it was a perfect match to the prediction. Is it an old principle...yes. Is it something we all could of thought of..yes.... was it worth my $9 for me to go "well I should of thought of that!" yes!... For me will I be using it. yes! I would add that there is zero need to use facebook, instagram or any other social media. But if you wanted to then you could. Sorry for digging up an old thread but just wanted to add my comments. Hopefully haven't exposed anything. I cant go into much more detail without exposing and I don't post here often enough to get in to the locked areas. |

So quick question to those who have this, could I adapt this idea to use let's say Tarot cards Instead of playing cards? Just a thought.

If the magician doesn't know the card until it is revealed, which must be the case since he doesn't touch the cards - then the only solution is multiple outs. So you just need 52 apps with different card reveals That's my guess anyway. But I assume Mark must have a better way of achieving this in his routine.

There is an app on playstore that allows you to change the background image of the phone,
you give them your phone, they name any card, they unlock your phone, the background image is the selected one, wonder if the method is pretty similar... So for those who purchase it, having a pin locked phone is a must for this trick?

Just purchased this and I really like it. Yes it would be possible to use Tarot cards, no there are not 52 outs. No you do not need your phone locked. No the background image idea would not work.

I don’t understand the age limit comments. Is it because it’s too difficult for people over a certain age to perform? Because it necessitates having a smartphone and social media? The comments just seem stupid unless I’m thoroughly missing something. Literally 90 percent or more of people I know have a phone and some sort of social media. I’m mid fifties and have them all, and virtually everyone I know from my nine year old and her friends up to my 92 year old dad have them. Think I’ll buy it just because it apparently can’t be done by middle aged people.

I don’t see any age limitations to doing this

Great trick. Well worth the money. Mark does a good job with the video. I'm going to be 80 this month and it took me less than 10 minutes to perform it once I got the download. Believe me age has no bearing on this trick.

Superb effect made even better with this streamlined version released through illusionist. Well worth the money.
"I seriously love the disarming flexibility of Mick Wilson's SDP...one of those rare card-handling procedures that exemplifies the concept of 'why run when no one is chasing you'. SDP is an open-handed utility tool that conjurers will use to great advantage when creating new effects in the years to come."

How are you guys getting around having your spectator have to unlock your phone? It seems a little bit of a distraction to have to tell them your passcode, but I haven't performed this yet. (Or are people disabling the lock-screen?)
...forever curious

Yea, as my phone is attached to a CORP server, it is not optional for it not to lock automatically quickly so that is a bit of a hassle. Another option is, not only have I never touched the deck of cards, you will notice that the phone has been on the table and locked from the start. So this will play and perhaps strengthen the effect.
For those who purchased, I’m not a fan of the demo video , spectator cutting to an Ace. |

The streamlined version is great and I like the phone reveals as they are a different to your standard revelations.
Having said that, with a little thought, you could easily tweak and adapt the method to reveal the card without a smartphone if that suits you better. |

I thought perhaps that entering the passcode was part of how the app worked?
