I just wanted to tip the ol' top hat to Jack Murray. I needed a new opener to introduce two new assistants that was easy and fast. The first thing that popped in my mind was a fire cage. I know that there are a lot of options out there, but I had heard nothing but great things about Jack's. From order to delivery it was excellent! Jack routinely texted to let me know what stage it was in and he even sent pics. The communication was great and order to delivery was one month.

The cage itself wildly exceeded expectations. So many nuances that I would have never in a million years thought of. It packs flatter than my last head chopper, and I can put it together by myself in roughly 4 minutes. The no bolt/pin assembly is amazing. I would definitely conduct business with Jack again.

No, Jack did not ask me to post this.

That's awesome man. I'm thinking of getting one to take my show to the next level.

Hi Aaron, the fire cage is a spectacular illusion and goes down well with audiences, unfortunately it is also one of the most seen illusions in magic.

If you are serious about taking your magic to the "next level", then you need to do something fresh; ideally something that does not appear in a dealers catalogue. If you are not an inventive person there have been many fine books on illusion design published over the last few years. Rand Woodbury, Mark Parker and J C Sum all have modern effects that are little if ever seen. All are worthy of your consideration.

One of the most seen effects in magic still means that 99% of non magicians have never seen it. Let me know if you'd ever like to borrow it Aaron.

You bring up an excellent point. It was either the fire cage or the zig-zag. I'll definitely go for the zig-zag. Thank you David!

Whoa, whoa, whoa Aaron! Hold your horse. The Zig-Zag may be the best illusion of all time for reasons which I'm sure have been discussed extensively in other threads; heck, it was my first illusion. But it's the 21st century now and this baby is 50 years old. From your post I am getting a feeling that this may be your first illusion; something to close your show with perhaps. We are all friends here and want to help other performers who are at all levels of experience. Perhaps if you were happy to share some details we could help you with some appropriate suggestions.

Do you have a budget for the prop

How do you plan to transport it

Are you a solo artist or will there be another performer on stage with you

Do you have a workshop and skills (or know someone that does)

Are you comfortable talking to an audience or do you prefer to perform mainly to music.

This information will go a long way to help you pick an illusion which is right for you and your show.
