The first batch was not on Elite stock, it was on standard Bicycle stock.
The first Marked cards had the dupe Aces, the new batch has the 2 Jokers and 2 Gaffs, plus Elite stock. The original batch also had the seal sticker, which we have now removed. Basically all of the great features of the Bicycle Elite Edition have now been applied to Marked Cards. You can almost think of them as marked and non-marked Elite Bikes - all other features match up between them. All batches of Marked Cards and Elite Bikes have been and continue to be traditionally cut.

I recently bought some of Richard Osterlinds centre tear pads (which are excellent by the way!) but due to our messed up system over here I ended up paying almost 5 times the cost of the product just for the delivery. |

Easily my new favorite deck, and my new go to. Used the new batch at my gig last night and they were a dream. Can't recommend these enough, I'm about to order a second brick!

Just got mine. LOVE the feel and the markings are great ! How did I miss that these are MAIDEN BACK ? Is that mentioned in the ad copy at Penguin ?
While a GREAT deck, ALL my Bicycle Gaffs are Rider Back. Hoping the back design will fly by un-noticed I guess eh ? |

I wish this deck would provide the same info as the code (probably not possible I guess?).

Unfortunately there will never be anymore gaffs in rider back design. US playing card company no longer allows that back design to be changed. That being said, totally agree with Josh. These handle great. I was bummed that I missed the first printing, now I'm glad I missed it because the elite stock is fantastic. I really should pickup another brick.

I see the shipping to the UK for a brick is $37 but someone earlier in the thread mentioned import tax. Can anyone enlighten me as to how much that is likely to be?

Received a brick yesterday and they are hands down the best marked deck I've ever owned. Also they handle beautifully. My parcel was shipped DHL and there wasn't any import duty. My highest recommendation!

Just received one deck of these, (didn't I order a brick?), then the next day received the brick, LOL.
I had initially ordered one deck to check out the back design, but obviously the second print all came to Penguin at the same time. No matter, initial examination of the back design first made me think, "oh, a spectator will bust me for sure". They are SO easy to read. But watch the videos, I think the easy to read markings are a non-issue, and Lax and Armstrong both explain and provide tips so that you need not worry about the ease of reading the backs of this deck. Love these! |

Thanks to John Carey's reply I have plumped for a brick in the hope they reach bonnie Scotchland without any tax penalties!

Update on my order - DHL just messaged me to say I am due £3.05 for importation charges. One hopes that's the end of the extra charges because it's a minimal amount and doesn't impact on the cost of the decks - for a brick including DHL shipping it is working out at £6.50 a pack which is still a bargain.

So my first pack game in last week, and I’ve already added another batch. Any tips on quirky getting a look. I can see them and read them fast enough. And if someone is selecting a card from a fan I’m fine, but if I have to tead one the spectator is holding, or I’d on the table I feel like my eyes will give it away. I know enough not to stare a the card, but I’m ’ wondering if there are some subtleties out there. Also af anyone can recommend a generic book on handling them that would be great.

Have you watched the videos by Rick and John that you get access too when you ordered the cards? There is a lot of great info in them, and they both hit on your concern.

I just got a couple of these decks from MAGIC Live and I gotta say, they are pretty sweet...They look good and feel pretty good too. I don't think specs would notice anything different about them from regular Bikes, even though they are the mandolin version. I've already added in a card (QH Rider) to do an impossible transposition, and you really can't tell the difference (unless you want to, and just why would you do that?)
These are a great deal and easily operate as your everyday deck. I typically use a red Rider deck, and these substitute invisibly, nothing to worry about. So you wear these down, you just use another deck and keep it moving, and for $5 bucks this might be as good as it gets. I was worried about being able to see things good enough, and my worries were instantly over as I had no problem really, and my eyes ain't as good as they used to be. I will start using this as my very next regular deck to do all that I usually do with no worries. Sorta like slipping on a new pair of sneakers, that just happen to also have a secret weapon hidden in plain sight within them to help me jump a bit higher and move a bit faster out on the court. Of course, you don't have to use the secret weapon if you don't want to, but it's there for you anytime you want. And you might want to more than you would've thought once you check out the wonderful effects that come with the deck via an online video, a few creative gems in there, along with some good instruction... Again, all for $5 bucks! Now, to be honest, there are other nicely designed cards marked cards out there with some good elements to them, but not this cheap and not with any better simplicity or quality to them IMHO. You get what you pay for, and that can be good & bad. With these Marked Cards from Penguin, you get only the good, better & best of all worlds. What's not to like? Even if you have a favorite marked deck already, these are still worth checking out. For $5 bucks, I do believe you will be most pleasantly surprised, perhaps even more than you might think. Great job Penguin!
