A sponge ball (and sponge banana) humidor The worst part about outdoor shows and festivals is trying to find places to moisten my sponge balls. A spray bottle sort of works. But a sponge ball humidor. It would keep your sponges at optimum humidity and moisture
Just rambling. I have 3 outdoor Memorial Day shows and will be carrying water bottles and sprayers for sponge work! |

A Ziplock snack baggie can be the humidor and carrier. I know they will only be damp but always look out for your silks where ever any moisture is present.

Also be careful of allowing sponge balls of different colors to make contact with one another, moist or dry. This may not be a problem for those who only use (for example) all red sponge balls, but I have begun using sponge ball routines with two or three different color sponge balls, and to carry them around, I use Mary's solution of snack baggies for each separate color. For my Wiz Kids who do strolling magic, they wear a so-called "fanny bag" to carry their props (but in front so it can be used like a tiny portable table). Anyway, inside the bag there is a box in which the sponge balls came packed from the store. We cut open the side that has a little open window and then inserted partitions made from a cereal box (same kind of thin cardboard) so each colored sponge ball would be separate and in its own "safe space." Each partition can also be lined with plastic cut from a small lunch "baggie." That way the color of one sponge ball doesn't "migrate" to any of the other sponge balls.

Good advice, jimgerrish! I discovered that particular problem about different colored sponge balls the hard way!
