I made a really nice "Chopped" Benson Bowl yesterday. I used a nice bowl from Walmart (Less than $5 at my local store)
https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Pioneer-W......54458348 I got a 2"(round) x 1/8" (thick) neodymium magnet stuck to the center of the bottom (inside that lip) held with a small, thin glue dot. I buy my magnets in bulk (a bunch of different sizes to make an order worthwhile) from - http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ I covered it as well as the inside of the lip with white "FlexSeal" (very thin layer) and it works perfect after drying 24 + hours using both "crochet chop balls" and "Leo Smetser's chopped baseballs" https://www.walmart.com/ip/Flex-Seal-Liq......54189339 (I only paid $12) I also put the same size magnet inside a hard plastic, double wall insulated, red Solo cup with a thin coat of "FlexSeal". It also works great plus I made one a few weeks ago just gluing a shim in the inside of a Solo Cup with a light coat of "FlexSeal". I am happy to report, they both work incredibly well with both sets of chop balls. https://www.amazon.com/Red-Cup-Living-Oz......F0T05H6X I got mine at Walmart a couple years ago for $1 ea. they will hold a regulation size baseball as a final. I have a set for regular cups and balls too using Mike Rogers Baseballs, these cups, 4 regulation baseballs for final loads and a 17" Pittsburgh Pirate "fan bat" as a wand. Man I love experimenting because it gives me very unique and "organic" props. I even made a 14" wand with a 1/2" by 14" wand and a 5/8" x 16" wand out of dowel rods and $2 worth of paint.

If you find the right shape generic red party cup (solo clone) you can make a bottom shell by cutting one at the bottom transition and it will just snap onto the bottom of a complete cup and the seam will be invisible. A magnet could be inserted between the shell and the cup.

Thanks for sharing the idea. I actually tried that with not only 2 of the cheap, thin real Red Solo cups but with two of these Hard Plastic ones. I also tried the thin shell in the thick cup. In all cases, the gap where the "inner shell" showed at the edges was a little worse to me, than the (very little noticeable) "off white color" that the FlexSeal has (which is further hidden by distance in the cup and shadow). I would not worry anymore flashing the inside at a spec (as in "here is an empty cup") than I would using a marked deck. Can it be seen? Yes, in either instance but Will it be seen or noticed? Probably not.
I think too, if you were to be VERY CAREFUL, with your application on the inside, you could coat the entire white inner surface with FlexSeal. I had a hard enough time keeping the bottom looking level. Perhaps you could slowly run the liquid rubber down the inside while the cup rotated on a pottery wheel of some sort. I got the best results keeping the base flat by cupping my hand palm down over the top and gently "swirling" the cup like an ice cube in a glass of Bourbon. The process with the cups took several tries. The 3 finals I came up with were using a shim from one of the paper coffee cups that come with the Leo Smetsers set, A 2" round X 1/8" thick neo magnet (just under $12 if you buy two like I did in my order) and a round refrigerator magnet shown here - http://www.truevalue.com/product/Round-B......round%20 It is way too thick and makes the cup very top heavy. Between the shim and the neo magnet, I like them both the same with both crochet chop balls and the Smetsers Chop Baseballs. On the benson bowl, I put the magnet on the outside (it is strong enough to work thru the bowl) and I coated it as well as the entire inner base around it (the base on the outside if that makes sense). Now it also serves as non-slip grip when I pick it up by the base. Since my links to Walmart don't seem to work, go to walmart.com and search - The Pioneer Woman Traveling Vines 6.5" Bowl

Interesting technique. I put the shell on the outside, not the inside. The bump-out ridge on the outside hides the shell edges.
