I resemble that remark.
As with my previous purchases from you, this is excellent and very applicable in the real world. Thanks for making it available to those of us who did not get it the first time. All the best, David |

Thanks, David. I do try to build a significant degree of practicality into my material so I can perform it in a variety of circumstances.

Excellent effect. I have had this one for years. All you need to do is work on a presentation. I lost my card that came with the original.
David, I hope you continue to offer your effects to the magic community! Great Stuff!! |

This routine looks so cool using the Series 1800 cards. It gives it a spooky feeling. I have also used a thicker paper stock for the calling card. I then did a tea bath and an oven bake while ending with a wax job to the calling card. The calling card now has a great weird wild look about it. It really looks the part.
I am also working on making this more of a voodoo routine where the death card is the one selected and the message is quite different. Then by using a pendulum, mojo bag and a chant, everything turns out alright for the sitter. The curse is removed and everyone lives happen ever after.....until the next time they are unlucky to met me.... I like making new routines fit me and this routine is great for doing that. Ray |

Tony, thanks for the nice comments.
David, is it OK to post one of the presentational ideas that I am playing around with? It seems to get a great response. No explanation, just what it looks like to the sitter. It is just the way that you do it, only different. I can PM you about it first if you like. Best Ray |

I recommended this effect to someone on the Café recently, and as it happens, ended up having a great few chats with Mr Parr, who has very generously contributed a beautiful routine to my new magazine MagicVampire. It was fate!!
Really glad to see 'Life and Death' out again. I've had mine years and still use it to this day. If you are in the U.K, Hobbycraft sell a pack of A4 parchment thin cardboard that's very close to the original cards David produced. Kneill X |

Thanks muchly, orchid666! I'm really looking forward to seeing the next issue of your magazine.
In the UK, are pre-perforated printable business cards available? Here in the States, they're gettable in parchmenty card stock. |

Big thanks to everyone who has picked up A Game of Life & Death! I've gotten very nice messages from folks who said they are thrilled to be able to put the effect back in their repertoire — and give away the calling card at the end. Huzzah for modern technology!

Just performed this routine twice (on the day before Halloween) and received applause both times. It's spooky without being hokey. Very well structured -- a miniature piece of drama.

Have been using this since I got it & have had great reactions with it !! Small cost with a big punch, worth every penny !
I use an 1800's spare deck I had that adds to the storyline for me. I really enjoy this & weave it in with a few other effects that people have loved & responded to this story & effect very well !! Thank you David 😆 |

Thank you, James, Christopher, Tony, and Merlinsmagic! Many years ago, when I made the decision to begin publishing my magic, I made a promise to myself that I would only publish material that I actually use, so that other magicians could get use out of it too. I’m very happy that you’re all having as much fun with A Game of Life & Death as I have. Happy Halloween to you! Stay spooky!
