I wish this was a download only. Shipping 'cheaper' effects to South Africa is never worth it. I end up paying double the cost of the product to get it here safely. : (

Frank B,
Thanks for posting the video of you performing Phase 2 of Menny Lindenfeld's TRU. It was stunning. It helped me decide that I really have to order this trick. Jim Wood |

On Jul 18, 2017, Luke Dancy wrote: That was a nice interview. It did clear up a couple of my questions but I would like to correct Menny on one point during the Q/A. The bands that come with "Melting Point" by Casshan Wallace "CAN" be used and they are "NOT" smaller than the bands included with "TRU". Both are size #19 bands. He may not have known the answer for certain and just erred on the side of caution but I wanted to clarify that if the person who asked might be a member here. I did like the interview. I found it informative and it gave a nice look into the creative process that goes into many of these "why didn't I think of that" effects out there. Someone else asked if you could do a "full set" of close up using only rubber bands and I wholeheartedly agree - "YES, I do it all the time". Rubber band magic may be a well hidden sub-genre but there are tons of material out there. Most people I have ever talked to don't go much beyond a CMH variation and "Snap!" by Harry Lorayne (maybe even the old finger ring rising up the slanted band). There is really so much more to the genre. I can (and have) walked into a local bar with a wrist full of bands and done a half hour set for a few visiting college "Kids" before I ever pulled out a deck of cards or a coin. The great part is, even after a half hours worth on "RB" magic, I still probably know another half hours worth (if I thought about it and practiced a little more). Like other genres (cards, coins, rings...) it has several principles, moves and sleights as well as a certain number of plots and many talented magicians thru the years have combined them in different ways to make absolute showcases.

I am right handed, of course. Another question I have is from a review in Penguin Magic where the reviewer said, "The trick is cool and really fun to see but the video explains not even the half of what we see on the video promo. Really disappointed. I have to find alone how to do it with the hand of the viewer". Does that mean that the video does not teach this phase with the spectator's hand or was this reviewer overlooking something? Anyone who has the video can clarify this? I'd love to get this but just want to be sure.
I'm not confused... I just don't know yet.

I ordered TRU from Penguinmagic.
The Effect looks amazing and the simple and effective Tecnique is outstanding. Why did I not think about it? I really don't know. Menny is a professional Magician and his Teaching is fantastic. You will do the Effect in no Time after watching the Download. This Effect is perfect in conjunction with CMH. The provided Bands are Great and you could also use the Colored ones from other Companies or just the normal size 19 Bands. The Video Download takes really his time, since the Video file is pretty Large. I think that TRU by Menny Lindenfeld is one of the Best Rubberband Penetrations I've ever seen!

I got my questions answered. Another member gifted me a copy (thanks). I probably eventually would have still got it just to keep my rubber band library complete. My thoughts are that this is a great addition for someone who currently only does CMH. However, I would build to this and keep it as a closer. there are better effects to follow CMH with and better primers than CMH for this effect in my opinion. I also believe this could be done as a stand alone rubber band effect.
All in all, this is a great product for someone who wants to expand their rubber band arsenal. Did I learn anything new from it? well, yes and no. While I already knew one method / principle to make it jump from finger to finger (and it could be used for more than one phase although "switching it up" is better) I did learn a "shortcut" for getting set up and a few subtleties as well as a couple more "tweaked" methods of the same basic move. It is absolutely worth $25 for all that you get and the great teaching (which can be hard with rubber band magic). The Bands add value (as well as introduce you to Joe's wonderful product line). The routine alone (even knowing "A" method) is worth a good bit of the cost because the "older version" of the move is one of those moves you imagine is so well known that you probably would never use it in a professional routine. He took it, tweaked it, made it look "different" than the well known move and routined it into something new. I can see me using this routine within my regular rubber band arsenal. They are moves I am familiar with so I will have a jump on the learning curve plus I am very used to interactive performances where I do several things already in the specs hands. Overall, it is a pretty worthwhile project.

I am right handed but find the rubberband effects I do to be ambidextrous in nature. Joe Rindfleisch is left handed too I believe and I often do effects with the same hands as him in "over the shoulder" shots as well as mirroring (using opposite hands) One just falls into place. Since it is not something you do a lot, you probably don't have a "habit" to break and can learn either way. <-- just an opinion / observation

Fair points Poof-Daddy. Actually I'm mixed handed - cards I handle mainly right-handed but coins and rubber bands mainly left-handed.
