I got this from Penguin....Muldoon Matching effect. It's a card routine and can be used to good effect with ESP cards.

I agree. Very simple and very powerful effect. Based on well known principles but was still worth buying for me. Very well taught.
Watching those electrons dance on the adiabat, from Franck-Condon to the Asymptote.

I feel there is a discrepancy that is hard to overlook. Just my opinion.

It is legit, maybe discrepancy is the wrong word. Prior to showing that all the cards match on the table, you pick them up one at a time, place them on the deck and then one at a time deal them back. Not sure how to routine that into the effect that doesn't look odd.

I agree, it is still a good effect. Quick and super easy.

This effect can be found as well on the Gold Dust Live DVD set (Disc 2).

I just bought the effect. Haven't watched the explanation yet. The promo video didn't show the three mate cards being replaced onto the deck before being re-dealt. That is a major disappointment to me. This is why I always film my routines in their entirety. Unedited promo videos deserve respect. And when something has been edited out, I think it would be a heck of a lot more honest for the seller to disclose the fact. Not give away the secret, of course, but just admit that something has been edited out of the video.

Fortunately the more we know, the less we rely on them (I'm sure you're the same) but I would be much more impressed with real time performances caught on camera with single shot no editing. This isn't a comment on the effect by the way, more a reflection on advertising ethics. |

If you watch the demo in its entirety you will see that at 1:15 he does place the cards on top of the deck before dealing them face up. Rather masked in the jumble of quick cuts, but it is there and I know it struck me as a little odd and unmotivated.
Don't mind the flashy vids, but truly appreciate when at least one clip shows the flow from a-z. |

I guess I missed it then. Wondering if that was deliberate. Admittedly, I haven't watched it again, and the impression I came away with certainly eluded my recollection.

Today I finally got around to watching and learning "Muldoon Match". I want to publicly retract my previously voiced objection. The part that bugged me before is of no practical cause for concern. The effect is incredibly strong, direct, and non-discrepant. This is a wonderfully clever mental miracle that there is practically no reason not to perform if you do mentalism with playing cards, symbol cards, etc. I give this one an A+ after having given it a fair viewing. Well done, Mr. Gordon.

If one already does Jazz Mentalism, is this worth learning too?
