Connecting 3 one inch square pieces of wood together that will need to break down like pool cue but need hardware that is for 1/2" down like a wand.
I have toyed with the idea of a standard bolt and nut in drilled out ends of the wood, but want to see if there are better ideas. This is a gallows style piece for a pendulum suspension that needs to be collapsible for transport. Thanks for looking and suggestions Pete

Google "insert nuts" and "dowel screws". I've used them for something similar but the insert nuts screwed into the end grain aren't ideal and I think that I ended up epoxy resin-ing them in!
