I just thought of further design on the velcro idea. For the piece on your body, get a wide step of female (fuzzy) and loop it, so your belt will fit into the loop. Hand stitch the loop. Now it will hang from your belt.
If you do not wear a belt, just glue the top edge of the velcro to a piece of stiff material. Now all you have to do is slip it over the top of your waist band and you are set to go. |

Thank you for the many wonderful suggestions. This is what the Café is all about.
Let me give you a little more detail as to what I am using it for. From jumbo classic palm (not tenkai) I want to slip the coin up under my coat—perfect length so I don't have to bend my arm. I could do it right under the spectator's noses (using the proper misdirection in context of the routine, of course). In another 30 seconds I am going to have to steal it again. This rules out the topit ideas and unfortunately the velcro (it was a very good idea). A magnet may do the trick, but I may have to fumble to get the magnet on the metal (or vice-versa). I really don't want to bend my arm. I truly could turn my body and tuck it under my belt or pocket it, but that is not what I want to do. I would appreciate more great magic Café minds (like yourselves) to provide more ideas. Thanks again, FC |

FC, if you don't need to show both side of the coin use some Blu-Tak Troy Hooser, uses this to ditch and retrieve a coin (half dollar) in one of his routines.
Or perhaps a second jumbo could be used one is ditched, the other stolen at a later time? Best Joe

FCPrecher,
For what you want to do, the magnet will work if you thing big magnet area and strong. Other wise I am afraid you will have to use 2 coins, one to ditch and one to recover. It does not matter as they are not marked. You can use a Butterfly clip as Jerry Anders discribes in his Misers Miracle trick. A butterfly paper clip with sticky felt covering the metal. |

What you are seeking amounts to having an old fashioned clothes pin like clip inside your jacket. You can make such a thing easily and cheaply. I suggest shrink wrap type plastic and bent wire. The thing can be sewn onto a bit of stiff cloth and that in turn can be pinned into your jacket.
Cheers
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Almost forgot!!! I know just what you need. It's a GREAT idea from John Bannon's book "Smoke and Mirrors" he calls it the "I/O Holdout" (I/O meaning Input/Output)
It's a five and one half inch bankers clip, you can get at office supply stores called "Stainless steel Clasp Senior" This is perfect for what you need. You can slide the coin right into it and when you need, It can be stolen and produced. Sorry didn't think of this sooner. Best to you Joe

John Cornelius has lectured on the pendiulum vanish, works with almost anything, any size, the item swings under coat on a nylon string in pendiulum fashion under cover of a movement or handkercheif, killer principal for a vanish, should work great with a jumbo coin too.

I don't think pendiulum principel is what you were look for as you said you wanted to have your hand at you side to ditch and retrieve.
Crdickson, was correct it would be an effective way to vanish an retrieve. You should check out Tommy Wonder gimmick on this device. He has some very good ideas in his expensive books. |
