No questions here, just a recommendation.
I've been looking for a corner rounder, appropriate for making corner shorts, for quite awhile. I recently stumbled onto this one, and for ten bucks, I thought it'd be worth a try. To my delight, it works wonderfully. (Granted, I've only made a dozen or so, so I have no idea how well it will hold up in the long term.) It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sunstar-Kadomaru-......er+1%2F8 It has three different built-in blades for cutting three differently-sized corners. You insert the card into any of the three slots, press the handle down, and all the blades are pushed down at the same time. But obviously you've only put a card into one of the three slots. I found setting #2 to be just right for me. The amount of card cut off in slot 2 -- 5mm, I believe -- is like a fingernail clipping from a baby, and is all I need. I understand some people might like a larger amount of trim, and the #3 slot provides that (8mm) For the price, you can't go wrong. |

Yup @Josho, that's the same one that I use. It works great for corner shorts, custom gaffs, everything I've thrown at it.
It's also mentioned in this thread: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=37 Dave |

Yup, this is a really nice rounder. I've been using one for years, they hold up very well. Back when I bought it, it was around $30! Ten is a great deal. The "small" side is great for rounding a corner back to normal. The "medium" side is great for making corner shorts. The large size isn't super useful for most magic needs, but ymmv.

I agree 100% with the above. This corner rounder for about $15.00 US works like a charm. I have two in order to have a backup in case of problems. Yes, the small 3 mm "rounder" is the same used for a standard playing card. This coupled with a small Fiskars "guillotine" cutter are two of my prized possessions. With these, you can make perfect short cards or corner shorts. Very inexpensive when compared with some of the "professional" cutters for hundreds of dollars.

I'm glad that so many people know about this. And I'm disappointed in myself that, in my searches of the forum before posting, I missed the fact that it'd already been uncovered and discussed.

If it can help 1 or 2 others that don't know, it's worth bringing back every so often.

Interesting that you mention this primarily as a corner shorter when it's real value IMO is for making rounded corners identical to standard cards.
The reason I say this is because rounders for corner shorts are much more common than the smaller 3mm rounders to make regular corners. I have a couple of these as well as the $35 version from Lybrary.com (which will only cut 3mm corners) and I much prefer this model. |

I must chime in regarding the corner rounder from Library. I have both of these and I MUCH prefer the KADOMARU. It works perfectly. Besides, you can round 5 mm and 8 mm radii curves which are not available with the one from Lybrary which leaves the corners "ragged".
Just my 2 cents, hbenod |

Timely topic for me, as I've been trying to figure out the best way to short a card.

Someone shared this link to some helpful very clever thinking that goes along with using these trimmers.

Just received mine.
At the beginning I was disappointed, since I was convinced that I read that the S size was the one advised to make a corner short. And certainly the result was not satisfying. Fortunately, there were two other sizes ... OMG.
So much to do, so little time . . .

I use it in combo with a paper cutter (guillotine) to make perfect short cards (with the S side). If you use a piece of masking tape on the paper cutter to mark the right spot, you can easily make a whole short deck, a mene-tekel, or whatever.
I have bought a few others before and this one is the best by far. Small tip, don't push it on the end, but rather just the top. More efficient and doesn't ever 'stall'.

Mine has been working just fine for normal corner short cards.
