My journey from lurker to poster has spanned many years ... but the transition into the 'bizarre' has taken a fascinating turn this past Saturday night.
First let me take you back a bit. In 1987, after years of hearing about the Magic Castle from the Tonight Show, I was blessed to be booked multiple weeks in the close-up room. 1987 was the time of Peter Pit and hanging out spending time watching, sitting and learning with Vernon in the corner. You look back now and realize WOW ... if I only knew then the opportunity I had. My colleagues at the time are now the Vernon's of today: Kevin James, TC Tahoe, Nick Nick and Fielding West. All of them continued in magic and their contributions speak for themselves. My singular contribution: a spoon bending effect conceived from my nightly restaurant work which appeared in Michael Ammar's Magical Arts Journal entitled 'Uri Gellar is Alive & Well, So Don't Invite Him to Dinner'. Many years have passed since I have formally taken the stage, yet magic is part of my daily life. My collection of magic books continues to grow and I am always ready with a close-up card miracle when asked. Now to what brings me to posting in this particular forum ... the bizarre. A year has passed since my daughter was married and its time for me to turn that extra room into a 'magic room'. More than enough magic props to fill the room, it's time to look for some really unique items. After lurking a bit and finding this forum last week... I learned about the world of RS, Luna, Prof BC, Paul Prater and am blow away! Saturday night at midnight I awake to deepen my knowledge and read every possible thread. At 1:44 AM, I hear a sound coming from the kitchen, which I believe is the dog throwing up. Waking my wife up, we find the dog is fine .... so WTF was that noise? "Cue the Nest Cam" https://video.nest.com/clip/69ea26ddbbff......79cb.mp4 Take a minute to watch it again (make certain your sound is up) Google the sound you hear on the video .... "dragging furniture" and the results are the obvious ones: pipes or a haunting. 3 am and I'm running all around the house checking pipes and all looks fine. Turns out I didn't check the entire house. I missed my new 'magic room'. The Magic Room is down a long hallway on the 2nd floor. Right before the door is a dormer with a small area where two wooden chairs sit. I didn't check this area because there's no pipes there. This dormer sits right above the dog in the video. The next morning, my wife and I notice that one of the chairs was in the middle of the hallway -- blocking the entrance to my room. Has anyone else had a similar experience when moving into the bizarre? Looking forward to contributing, participating and sharing. Jeff |

It's either a warning or a welcome.

It’s unfortunate, but the incantation to make them go away was printed in a limited run and is now out of print.

It's the cost of the props. Many homes that didn't have the props suddenly become re-"possessed" shortly after you start collecing.

I shipped someone a haunted prop. . . a Spiritus Maximus with a drawer that opened at night and only at night by itself.
When I started building Bizarre props I was living in a very haunted house in Fresno. We had voices in the night, kids toys moving around at night, object thrown across the room in my work area, strange objects appearing in the middle of the night. Books would vanish and reappear. Drops of water the size of eggs would fall out of the sky. Strange people from the "Government" would visit and ask strange questions. . . that house was a vortex of insane. . . |

Tim, was that the one that was, I believe, sitting on a shelf in your place for a while before someone was willing to take it off your hands? Maybe during the Outlaw days???
Just wondering ... |

Yes, it sat in my office for a long time many years ago, it would open by itself, I was suppose to "fix it" so it would not randomly open, but I could find the cause of the drawer opening on its own. It ended up being sent to someone that was willing to take it off my hands. . . . that thing scared me.

Me -- and it still opens when it wants -- so I leave it be and we all get along just fine

I noticed that right away as well. Of all the forums, spooky definitely has the highest number of regulars who are helpful and kind. And welcome aboard!

Thank you Schaff! Noticed you're from Fargo -- did a couple of shows @ NDSU back in the late 90's - always during the winter, but somehow always missed a storm
One of my fondest memories was going thru security @ the Fargo airport. I did a 45-minute act and everything was carried in my carry-on ... including a visible sawing in half -- which included a crazy long blade + black and decker saw. I flew with this for a number of years on on this trip left Boston's Logan airport with zero issues. After a week in Minnesota, ND and SD ... as I'm back in Fargo ready to return, security tells me that I cannot fly with the Black and Decker saw on the flight. I knew that if they were mentioning the saw, they didn't see the blade ... so I said ... "It's not like I have the blade or I can plug it in on the plane" .... They agreed and let me board! Just funny how for 100+ flights, it was Fargo security that said something. |

Talk about bragging rights! If you can withstand a North Dakota winter AND talk TSA agents into changing their minds you have a very special skillset indeed.
